What's funny is that even though it wouldn't have been as big a blowout, ASU would have been soundly beaten by LSU also.

Whats really funny is that if not for two special teams mistakes, we would have soundly beaten LSU last year. Oh you must have been watching your cats against NAU and not watched that game. Go Devils

I'd bring up some of your embarassingly wrong predictions (which somehow seems to be nearly every one you make), but there's way too many and I don't have the time. Seriously, a week after the game and you're still getting off on an SEC team beating a conference foe.

I suppose us UA fans could pile on every time ASU's pathetic basketball program gets blown out, but us Arizona Bball fans simply have bigger fish to fry when it comes to championships and the like. But unfortunately for us, ASU football fans do not so we have to hear about it every time Arizona loses because those in Tempe desperately want to build up their own mediocre program by comparing it to ours.

So that's why from now on I'm going to ignore mindless ASU smack talk on this board, because I've realized that it's not because the Sun Devil fans hate Arizona that they do it, it's because they're insecure about their own program's status in the realm of college football and need to consistently degrade Arizona to build up their own false sense of worth. It's so transparent, can't believe it took me this long to figure it out.

Well said. I also think if ASU fans want to talk smack about the UofA, by all means, do it--but do it on the Smack Board, where it belongs, instead of hijacking every single UofA thread that is ever posted. Don't you think it's not a coincidence that the same never happens to ASU threads?

ASU has a better football team--we get it. And UA fans don't really care right now. But we all know the immature Sun Devil fans will continue their thread trolling...

Nobody wants to talk to you or your Devil brethren on a thread dedicated to the UA. Much like you wouldn't want a UofA fan on a thread about ASU. All you guys do is just prove to be extremely annoying. That's it. Are you trying to prove that ASU has the better football team? Congrats, you do! There won't be a UA fan that will disagree with that. We just don't care. And I think that where you and your buddy are frustrated. You WANT us to care. Sad, really.

So here's what we'll do: We will continue to watch our team and hope to find some improvement. You can watch your team try to get to the Holiday Bowl. Then, we'll be looking for our basketball team to get to the Final Four. And everyone will be happy. (Well, maybe not if you follow ASU's basketball team) But hey, you have a good football team!

I respond because you don't get it through your head. It doesn't get under my skin at all. If it did, this would have deteriorated into personal name calling, and aside from your buddy on this thread, that hasn't happened.

I'm just saying that ASU fans should stick with their own threads, but if they want to throw down, there's a whole seperate forum for that. The same goes for UA fans as well.

I certainly agree that mutual insult threads belong in the Smack Shack. But I wonder if there isn't a big discrepancy here. The UA coach (I refrain from the nickname for a minute) leads his team in stomping on and spitting on the LSU logo. Now, it's very predictable that there would be retaliation, in a physical, emotional game. That's why there are rules against taunting, excess celebration, etc.--far cries from what Stoops did. Tui was injured, hospitalized, conceivably may have his career impaired forever. That UA coach's action was, to coin a phrase, STOOPID. And demeaning to any pride, waning sense of good sportsmanship, etc., that any UA player or backer might have.

I haven't seen or heard any UA backer condemn this, call for a big fine or suspension, or anything else. But I do read that ASU commentators should stay away from this thread, and certainly not include smack messages. C'mon--get a sense of proportion. Till I see calls for Stoops to be justly disciplined, UA backers can claim no dignity that could be violated.
