Figured we could have a thread to discuss Pac-12 Basketball news and any games or whatever.

I'm really surprised they ruled Shabazz eligible. That whole situation was a giant snafu.

Shabazz's return helps the conference. We need UCLA to be relevant and keep the RPI high

This should be in the NAU and All Non-Arizona College Sports forum, not in a UofA forum unless you change it to Arizona season thread.

Really? Even though we have a thread in the Suns forum for other NBA games? A ton of off topic football threads in the Cardinals forum? If that's the way you want it, but I want a thread to talk about UofA games as well as other Pac-12 basketball games that effect us. Since we don't have many members here that talk about that stuff I figure a single thread in the UofA forum wouldn't be a big deal.

But, whatever.

There is not another NBA forum, so that is why it's discussed in the Suns forum. This site has a forum to talk about other college basketball teams. Russ posts about UCLA all the time on the All Non-Arizona College Sports forum.

I come to this site to read about the UofA. That is why it's called The University of Arizona. If I want to read about ASU, I go to their forum. If I want to read about other schools like UCLA, I go to the All Non-Arizona College Sports forum.

I'm not trying to be a jerk but there is another forum to talk about other schools. Maybe someone on this site can create another forum called Pac-12 or something?

I'm all for it Carey. I think it would be a conversation-ending move to force this thread to the Non-Arizona forum and personally I see no need for that to happen. It's not like you started a thread for anything but Arizona. Also, why force everyone to go to GOAZCATS or PGU for conversation about the Cats or the Pac-12 in general? I frequent the other sites but this is the only one I post at and there looks to be a lot to talk about this season.

Anyway, I'll play along. It's amazing the difference between this year's team and the Arizona group from last year. I really think this team will put more players into the NBA than any other Arizona squad. Unfortunately, most of that talent is at the bigs and the college game is still guard-driven. Somebody besides Lyons needs to step up. Also, I was very concerned by the passing against UTEP, it just wasn't crisp and a quicker team would have exploited our casualness.

I know ASU, Colorado, UW and Stanford are all in action today but I think the only one available to those of us on Direct TV will be the Colorado/Murray State game (ESPN2). The others look to be available only on the Pac 12 Network. Teams like Colorado have to start winning these kind of non-conference matchups if the Pac is going to start getting serious attention from the Tourney committee.

I guess I will start an ASU basketball thread on this forum then. Let's just have ASFN get rid of all the forums and just have one where you can post anything you want.

Maybe if you could get a moderator to change the thread title to UA/Pac 12 Basketball it would have a chance of staying in place?

I'm sure you'll get your way but again, why kill off what could be a good thread? I come here everyday hoping for news and conversation about Wildcat basketball and there is zilch. I was hoping that Carey's thread might get the ball rolling and as a fan of Arizona basketball and Pac basketball in general, I'd like to know what's going on in the conference especially as it relates to the Cats.

Why not just start a Pac-12 thread on the Non-Arizona College Sports forum to discuss the other teams? I know Russ and many of us would post on it.

I wouldn't be against any idea that stimulated conversation about Cats basketball and the Pac 12 in general. I know I'm not the only die-hard college hoops fan but we just get so little traffic on this forum.

I actually stopped trying because that board gets such little traffic. I post UCLA stories there but I don't try to get any Pac 12 talk going it just seems fans are focussed on one team.

Not a problem for me I'm on 2 UCLA boards and I post on a UA board fairly commonly now too.

I love the UA recruiting class this year Jerrett is my favorite I desperately wanted him at UCLA, but I love Ashley too.

I think Zeus has some issues with his hands but will be an NBA player. I think York will probably transfer after the year just don't see him getting the minutes and he strikes me as a kid who won't relish being a role player the way a kid like Pitts next year will.

BTW I agree with the OP I'm surprised Bazz got what he got I really thought the NCAA was going to make an example of him

Question, how come this thread wasn't posted on the ASU forum? You would think they would need the traffic during basketball season. I want this to be a UofA forum, not a Pac-12 board.

It is a UofA forum. How does it stop being a UofA forum? I doubt Carey would have started this one if there had been active threads for each of the Arizona preseason games and for the first game of the season but there was zero conversation about the Cats season so far.

Starting this thread on the UA forum increases the likelihood there will be chatter about the Cats specifically and the league in general. If there was enough interest around here to have a general thread for all other games and an individual thread for each Wildcat game, there'd be no need for this one but that doesn't seem to be the case. I just figured Carey was trying to get the conversation started.

Frankly, I'm surprised a moderator hasn't read your several comments about this and moved it to a different forum. Of course, that would pretty much guarantee a swift death to the topic but it's not drawing much interest here either so I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

What is the big deal? This isn't the Cards or Suns forum that has tons of threads and posters. For this forum, there's like 8 posters and we will be lucky to have more then 3 new threads ALL SEASON.

I'm not going to argue so do what you want by posting about the Pac-12 in this forum but the other forum should be deleted then, because like Russ said, barely anyone posts there.

I think we're just looking at this differently. I think there's still the occasional need for the other forum. I don't want to see this one turned into a free-for-all; I'm hoping for a thread about the Cats that includes information that is relevant to Wildcat basketball fans.

Is anyone watching the Long Beach State game tonight? I'm having to rely on a game thread and CBS Sportsline since Direct TV and the Pac 12 still haven't reached an agreement. This is getting old quick.

Looks like Ashley is starting tonight, he's a lot of fun to watch but I think I'd rather see him out there with Jerrett.

Ps I posted here instead of on the ASU forum because I went to UofA and not ASU. I am much more concerned with Cats basketball than anyone else in the Pac-12. And yes, Steve is right, just trying to start some convo.

I'm still just following along on the Wildcats gametracker and reading a game day thread at one of the fan sites. It's not as good as watching it but I grew up with most of my sports available only on radio so it's not so bad. Ashley is putting up a nice line. It's great to have someone who can draw attention from the refs, he's going to get a lot of people in foul trouble this season.

KP 5/5 from 3 LoL. Their perimeter defense has turned lazy. Do you want me to PM you some sites you can watch the same online for future reference? There's no Pac12 network here so it's all I have when they aren't on ESPN or CBS.

I appreciate the offer but I'm always a bit hesitant to violate copyright kind of stuff. Fortunately, even if Direct TV doesn't make a deal with the Pac 12 soon I'll still get at least 15 Arizona games this season. I'm used to getting just about every game so I'll just cross my fingers they make a deal soon.

I just saw a Dick Vitale list of the 7 best frontcourts in the nation and Arizona wasn't included. I'm sure that's because three of these guys are freshman but I find it hard to believe there are 7 teams with more talent at the F/C positions. Ashley and Jerrett are going to be something special and Tarc and Chol will both probably play at the next level (along with Solo at the SF spot).

The conference went 5 - 0 yesterday with ASU getting a solid win over Arkansas and Oregon getting a true road win against top 20 UNLV. We have 6 teams playing today with Stanford already losing to Minnesota. The conference is definitely improved from last year but we're still a ways back from the better leagues.

I missed the Oregon/UNLV game, assuming it was even on Tv here but I really like Mike Moser from UNLV - Thaddeus Young type like player.

Other than U of A games, I don't have much gamefilm. Last year with the lockout, I swear I had a about 75 CB games recorded before the NBA Season even started. lol

BTW, I was surprised Lindy's didn't have U of A in their top-10 Frontcourts.
