ASU exposed.

You say that like you're surprised. ASU has been "exposed" in pretty much every game this season. A young defense and a backup QB usually spells major doom against a good opponent.

A little life being breathed back into Sun Devil. This place was a morgue after Adams returned the 2nd half kick off for a TD.
Bottom line is UCLA is bigger, stronger, faster and more athletic at virtually every position on the field... The talent disparity is massive!

D just looks like they aren't even on the field. ST is also missing.

Defensive couldn't tackle anyone all night...
Berc gave it his all. He was under pressure all night as our o-line couldn't hold up against the constant pressure.
I have serious doubts about Strong's heart/motor. Dude was gassed midway thru the first quarter! From that point on, he would constantly signal to come out of the game and when he couldn't, he would always be the last player up to the line of scrimmage. He's so physically gifted, but I seriously question his ticker...
Our secondary is horrendous, as are our linebackers. And our d-line is too young an too small.
I think if Kelly played the game would've been different. I think, even though UCLA is by far the immensely more talented and deeper team, the Devils are a better coached team.
Next year should be interesting as our youth will have a full year under their belts...

I haven't seen that bad of defense in a while. Both teams were horrible on D, UCLA couldn't stop ASU but didn't give up the big plays, ASU kept busting plays missing tackles or coverages leading to long td's.

Glad UCLA won but still I think the 4-0 is pretty misleading, defense has not been good.

Ish Adams was a star though and it was great to get Hundley back, he looked really good.

Graham has such a long road ahead of him from a recruiting perspective... Getting blown out - AGAIN - on a nationally televised game isn't going to help much. And again, the pure talent gap between ASU and elite schools like UCLA remains as wide as the Grand Canyon. It will take epic coaching performances just to somehow keep ASU competitive in games vs the elite tier schools (UCLA, USC, Stanford, Oregon).
In the season prediction thread, I had ASU losing this game, as well as the next two against USC and Stanford. And I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose the game after Stanford vs Washington up on Seattle. They are too young, too small and just don't possess enough elite level talent. Kelly, Strong (no heart), Foster and Ballage are about the only elite level talent on the team. Yes - none on defense... A defense that has a ton of mid level to lower level talent...

Take away that pick 6 right before the end of the half, and I think it is a different ball game. We would have been tied at least going into the big half. That seem to be very disheartening to our young team and they hung their heads.

Perhaps UCLA still would have won with the big plays and poor tackling by us, but I think we would not have had the big blow out score that we ended up with.

Prior to that play at the end of the first half, I think we were hanging in there pretty tough.

As far questioning Strong, we threw the ball 68 times last night. He caught 12 for 146. I am not surprised he got tired. Those are great stats for a receiver. I thought he could have caught a few more but timing was off w/ Berco and he could have fought for that first int.

The picksix definitely flipped the game. UCLA had rallied for the lead but ASU went right down the field again. They ran over 100 plays last night, got over 30 first downs. UCLA couldn't stop them they just prevented the big plays and ASU turned it over a few times.

I honestly agree with the announcer though the biggest play of the game was ASU 17-6 UCLA 3rd and 2 and Massington avoids and breaks tackles and goes 80 yards. If ASU's defense gets off the field there they have a chance to go up big, instead UCLA is celebrating in the endzone down only 4 points, huge momentum swing.

He had the guy open, needed a touch pass over the top, but went with the line drive. ugh.

I would have been happy with a field goal there. You could see Norvell and Graham debating the play call. Looked like Graham reluctantly went along with Norvell saying we have time for one more shot. Result: 10 point swing

To be fair to the QB they got put into that position by the ridiculous QB draw call on the prior play. they had no timeouts, I guess if they fool UCLA he looks like a genius, but it totally backfired they had to rush and clearly the play they called didn't work. He definitely made a bad throw tried to gun it in instead of lofting over adams but the QB draw sort of led to that whole bad play happening.

Ofcourse I am surprised. The things you mention were the obvious things everyone was talking about since before the season started (well not the backup QB). Getting beat like this? Yeah...still calling it out as exposed to have some weaknesses much worse than most people thought.

Don't agree at all... The talent differential was glaring. Particularly on defense where, we know all about our youth... however, several of the worst plays made on defense were not made by freshman. It was painfully obvious just how much better UCLA is across the field on both sides of the ball...
Also, while the Bruin defense was being shredded thru the air, they chose to completely take out Foster. So Berc and Strong could go off all they want, but the Bruins clearly said that Foster was going to be a non-factor... And he was just that... 30 yards rushing??
I think the pick 6 hurt, however, we still would've lost this game - and lost it big... Hundley and the Bruin offense could not be stopped any our defense. The only thing that might have made even the most tiny difference was if Kelly was playing as he could've posed an additional run threat.
UCLA is simply a vastly better team, period...
I think there is a very real chance that the Devils lose their next 2, maybe 3 games...depending upon Kelly's health of course.

The hollowed out bowling balls they used for helmets were almost as bad as the game.

Ha, that was everyone both ASU and UofA except me and you. Most UA fans perceive Graham as a serious threat so that him potentially leaving would make them feel better and most ASU fans think he's doing better than he actually is to make themselves feel better.

He's done a great job at ASU no doubt but not like Michigan or Florida is going to call him in a couple months. Guys with resumes like Graham only get those types of jobs if they're a favored son of some sort.
