I know it's early, but this team just can't hit worth beans, and THEY ARE IN COLORADO!

Sorry, just venting some frustration...

Poor pitchers.

Giving up 1 or 2 runs is not enough for this team.

They need to pitch shutouts.

Padres beat LA again. I don't know whether to laugh, or cry... well, so much for the LA Juggernaut theory. Now, someone needs to stop the Gnats.

Way early, and this team's past history indicates that they will in time hit better than .156 and average more than 1.5 runs a game ... but it brings back memories of the Dodgers of the 1962-66 seasons when Koufax was so dominant. He knew going into the game that he couldn't allow more than one run, or else he was likely to lose--the Dodgers offense was pretty weak then and would have been even more anemic had Maury Wills not been setting base stealing records.

The Giants will come back to earth - starting the season with SD at home, then Mil is a great way to get off to a good start.

I believe there is one reason, and it's going to haunt us until something is done about it.

I just posted it to the LINEUP thread, with related thoughts in the DURAZO thread.

Check them out. I'd be curious to see your opinions!

I don't agree "this is what it is" - unless what it is, is all our guys having their worst career years at once. BUT, that said, yes, a big power bat in the middle of the lineup would help, and I don't think Durazo is made for the NL either. If Danny was back to hitting over .300 or Overbay were to suddenly make the Majors, it sure as heck would make a difference. And start Counsell, fer chrissake. BB's decision-making on several things disturbs me thus far.

Second time I've seen this. Granted this seems to be a popular line on Durazo as of late, but that doesn't mean that it makes any sense. I think DWKB correctly pointed out that all of Durazo's injuries occurred while he was batting. Therefore I think it is ridiculous to think that he would have any less (significant) offensive success in the NL. Sure DH-ing helps a little, but I think Durazo's success has more to do w/ his playing everyday (even against lefties) and not having to look over his shoulder for aging 1st baseman who are both popular with the organization and especially w/ the manager.
