Plot Summary: Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces "Unbroken," an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend") enormously popular book, "Unbroken" brings to the big screen Zamperini's unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit. Starring alongside O'Connell are Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock as Phil and Mac—the airmen with whom Zamperini endured perilous weeks adrift in the open Pacific—Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini's brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as "The Bird."

Saw this yesterday - very good movie. The brutality is hard to watch at times.

And he never got one. Was hiding for years until the US pardoned him. The book has so much more detail about what went on farther then what the movie portays. If you have read it, read it.

Pretty good movie but damn....sometimes justice is not served. Amazing that he actually reached out to him later in life. What an amazing guy.

Better late than never, saw this last night. And it was just ok. WAAAY too long in parts, especially when they were floating at sea. They never developed the Mac character, even if he didn't make it through the film.

Garrett Hedlund is a very bad actor, but the rest were decent enough. I especially liked the final scene with the Bird--the Japanese actor did a great job looking defeated.

"This is directed by Angelina Jolie!" was always in the back of my mind which may have taken some of the impact away (along with the length).

He is not great but I wouldn't classify him as bad either. I have seen much much worse. Although he reminds me a bit of Jai Courtney on the way he delivers his lines and it does annoy me.

Nobody can touch Jai Courtney, but one of my most anticipated movies in the fall is Pan, and I can tell just by the TRAILER that Hedlund is absolutely horrid in it. And he plays such an iconic character that I'm a little worried.
