Yes, and like I wrote in a previous post, the primary target age group is "our" age. That is straight from the director, not just my opinion. And what is with "Michael"? That's weird.

I dunno, that WAS weird :)

Chappy :)

The move was only good for one thing to me...looking at Elisha Cuthbert :)

Well, that's a pretty huge asset. She is pretty amazing in the movie. How many times have you seen it? And have you seen the unrated version?

It can be a little disturbing I suppose if you have qualms about porn, since that's such a huge aspect of it, but there's a certain something in it that makes it more than what it would appear to be on the surface. Maybe it's the great acting between the kids, or maybe it's the fact that it really is a nostalgic look back at high school years.

For the record, I think the general public's opinion of the Girl Next Door is just about spot-on.

A run of the mill film.

Malcolm X
Shaun Of The Dead

I loved Malcolm X, one of my favorite movies. I'd say that Crash might even qualify as underrated. It is the best movie I've seen in years.

I'm curious as to why you think Crash is underrated. It won Best Picture, after all.

I realize it received a good deal of acclaim, but it took forever for a major company to pick up the film and none of the actors (to my best recollection) recevied awards. It just has so many great actors in it, and really helped the careers of several. T. Howard, Dillon, Sandra Bullock (I don't really like her as an actress but many people do), Don Cheadle!, and they even somehow fit Ryan Philippe and Brendan Fraser into the film. I just love film.

Fair enough, although I don't necessarily agree with you 100%. It did take a little while to get picked up, but Don Cheadle and Sandra Bullock were already well established, and Brendan Fraser really didn't do all that much. Matt Dillon's fortunes were certainly helped with his nomination, but I think Trevor Howard's acclaim came from Hustle and Flow, much more than Crash. But that's just me. As for Ryan Philippe, I'll give you that one, I think he is an awful actor, but he did a pretty good job in Crash.

Since the brilliant Trainspotting has now been mentioned, you can't ignore Danny Boyle's other brilliant movies: 28 Days Later and the little-seen Millions.

28 Days later was pretty cool. It reminded me a lot of The Stand. I have Millions recorded on my DVR. I'll probably watch it this Sunday.

A Sound of Thunder (sci fi fans would like this one)

Wow, a 3.9 at IMDB. That's pretty low, I'll have to watch it now.

Ben Kingsley? Now I'm really curious.

A $52 million budget and it grossed less than $2 million. I can't wait to see this.

24% of all votes at IMDB were a 1.

Haven't seen it but heard it was terrible. Just looking at Ben Kingsley with that head of white hair makes me want to vomit. :D

Another good one. We may not agree on Girl Next Door, but I think we agree on a lot of other underrated movies.

Terrence Howard, after Crash, was cast in the amazing Lackawanna Blues (possibly an underrated candidate) and I believe Hustle & Flow came after Crash also. Crash was a launching point for him. Michael Pena was also cast as the other lead (Nicholas Cage) in the new 9/11 movie.
