I heard on the radio earlier today that some people around the country didn't realize that the University of Phoenix had a football team. :bang:

Geez...now people (nationally) are gonna think we still play in a college stadium sharing it with another college team. Arrrggghhh! Bidwills...please do something right for once!

After a few hours to contemplate things, I think the name kinda sucks, and people out my way are stating the obvious (hey, you used to play at ASU's stadium and now you're playing at UofP?). Whatever.

Just freaking win games and call it whatever the hell you want to. Really. JUST WIN!!!!

The name is not my favorite by far, but nothing we say will change that, so we might as well embrace it and hope the money comes in as planned.

You down with UOP (Yeah you know me)
Who's down with UOP (Every last homie)
You down with UOP (Yeah you know me)
Who's down with UOP (All the homies)

Yeah I like that part of it!

Hopefully...hopefully Micheal does something "right" with it!

That's really what we should be talking about more than the name.

Now that they have landed a top tier naming deal, how will it change their spending habits, if they change at all?

so does put the cards 50 million under next years cap?

No, it just means they are making more money above and beyond the cap. It should mean that they can pay better signing bonuses when they are competing for free agents.

Thats if there are any FA next year to actual use that theory on. Of which as we speak it doesnt look all that great.

So we are going to have another offseason and another excuse why we didnt spend all of our cap. "But there was no one to spend it on."

All I have to say from here on out is we better not here any excuses next year like we have already heard this year.

Here's some interesting (maybe) naming info:

Baltimore Ravens - M&T Bank Stadium (PSINet's sponsorship was dropped in 2001 due to bankruptcy)
Denver Broncos - Invesco Field at Mile High (foreign owned investment firm)
Detroit Lions - Ford Field (in financial trouble)
Houston Texans - Reliant Stadium (evil energy)
Miami Dolphins – used to be Pro Player Stadium (Fruit of the Loom yes, underwear)
New England Patriots - Gillette Stadium (CMGi's $120 million, 15 year deal was dropped due to bankruptcy)
New Orleans Saints - Louisiana Superdome (No naming rights deal, maybe FEMA)
Pittsburgh Steelers - Heinz Field (yeah, ketchup)
St. Louis Rams - Edward Jones Dome at America's Center (TWA's $36.7 million, 20 year deal was dropped due to bankruptcy)
San Francisco 49ers – Monster? San Francisco Stadium at Candlestick Point (so many names!)
Tennessee Titans – is it LP (evil energy) or is it just The Coliseum (Adelphia's $30 million, 15 year deal was dropped due to bankruptcy and investigations into accounting practices)

UoP ain't so bad - who equates the sponsor with the team, anyway

When your team is the joke of the NFL, and you take the name of a diploma mill, it's just fodder for more jokes. If they named it after a generic phone company, bank, airline, etc., no one would give a crap. Give it the name of a college, and it just becomes the stupidest name in the history of stadiums.

I think the only one that is even close to being this bad is Emirates Stadium, in, of all places, London, England. The name just doesn't belong.

My father was a teacher for UofP and my wife was an accountant. Both echoed the same statements that UofP pushes students through and have no regard whether they get an education but rather their check clears.

My wife especially says they use "questionable" tactics that prey on the likes of teachers like enrolling them in classes before financial aid comes through pretty much guaranteeing that they will be accepted. Those who do not get a nice little collection letter within 2 weeks saying they need to pay $3000.00

Shady, shady place

That's it! We finally have a connection.

Cardinals Stadium = a shady, shady place...
University Of Phoenix = a shady, shady place...

It's cause they simply don't THINK man! Absolutely no instinctive marketing skills in that bunch we know as the Bidwills.

I'm gonna start calling them the Bid-kills. Cuz they kill anything good. Gee-zus!!! :thud:

Its amazing how freely some people on this board would spend Bidwill's money, now they also would turn their noses up on cashing an easy money check over a stinking name. In real life ya'll probably cry like babys if your shorted 10 bucks on your paycheck.

I don't get any of that money but I have to put up with the bs about the stupid name from everyone who knows I'm a Cardinal fan.

At least it gives me another topic for jokes about this hapless franchise.

Anybody know the greek term for "oh no we suck again!".

Can we just stop now? I don’t want to argue.

How about this. You supply the financial statements for UOP. And your reasons why they cannot continue.

I don’t like UOP, but they do make a lot of money.

I am eager to see your plan of them going out of business in 10 years. I have a lot of time on my hands, so please shoot it over to me via email. I’ll spend some time analyzing it and get back to you.

I don’t mind being wrong. I do it all the time.

I never said they can't continue. I said there is a chance that they won't be around due to the lawsuit currently against them. They could be held liable for millions if not billions of dollars. If you don't see that as a potential problem then there is no point in continuing this discussion.

You're clearly trying to confuse the topic at hand as I have stated numerous times that I don't know if the allegations are true or not. One thing is for certain. The lawsuit is for real though and has real consequences that cannot be ignored and I hope like hell that MB didn't ignore them.

Once again, to be clear the crux of my issue is the stupid name which we all agree is lame and the fact that there is a cloud over this naming partner (right or wrong) that the Cardinals could have avoided dealing with.

I commend the Cards for getting the most money they can get and I applaud UoP for stepping up to the plate, but they have some issues that cannot be overlooked.

Dude, YOU have the wrong spelling. He just called you out - "Bidwill" is a kicker and is used by the misinformed or trollers or just by error....

Dude i know i spelled it wrong. It is ridiculous and a waste of time to point out a wrong spelling. This is a message board not school, i dont need to be graded on my spelling. I am not a troll and am definately not misinformed, so thank you for pointing out that i made an error. You have saved my life! Go Cards.
