The Unpacking Future Packers Countdown is a countdown of 100 prospects who the Green Bay Packers could select in the 2025 NFL draft.

During Jeff Hafley's first season as defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, the pass rush did disappearing acts in big games far too often.

The Packers dismissed defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich and replaced him with DeMarcus Covington, who spent this past season as the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.

Brian Gutekunst made it crystal clear during the NFL Scouting Combine that they need the defensive line to create more chaos if they are going to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

"We need to affect the quarterback more in our front four, with just four players," Gutekunst said. "I'm excited about the guys we have in the room, we'll see if we add to it, but that's gotta get better if we're going to accomplish our goals we want to accomplish in this season."

As the Packers look for ways to cause more chaos with their front four, a potential target in the 2025 NFL Draft is Jordan Burch. The Oregon defensive linemen checks in at No. 13 in the Unpacking Future Packers Countdown.

A five-star recruit, Burch started his collegiate career at South Carolina, where he recorded 105 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in three seasons.

During his first season with the Ducks, Burch recorded eight tackles for loss and three sacks. In 10 games this past season, Burch recorded 11 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and six pass deflections.

"Burch was a great player for the Ducks, both for what he did on the field and off of the field," Zachary Neel, the Oreogn Ducks beat writer for Ducks Wire, said. "On the field, it was undeniable that Burch was one of the best players on the team, dominant when it comes to getting after the passer off of the edge. When Burch was healthy, there were few offensive linemen who could contain him throughout the course of a game. Off of the field, Burch was a great leader, and he represented what Dan Lanning could do in the transfer portal, bringing in a former 5-star recruit who needed a change of scenery to boost his career. This provided a great mold for other transfers to follow."

Burch is a well-put-together (6-4, 279 pounds, with nearly 34-inch arms). He moves extremely well for a player his size and was a standout basketball player during his prep career. With his unique blend of size, speed and strength, he's a player who can line up all over the defensive line. That combination of size and speed is the reason why the South Carolina transfer was No. 10 on Bruce Feldman's Freaks List.

Burch has got a quick first step to get offensive linemen on their heels. He has violent hands and plays with a ton of power to cave in pockets. The former five-star recruit does a good job of converting speed to power. To go along with his 8.5 sacks, Burch recorded 32 pressures this past season.

"What Burch does really well in a pass rush is bending around the edge and getting into the backfield with a quick first step," Neel said. "On top of that, he has a lot of power and can get into his bull rush against unsuspecting linemen. When he does reach the quarterback, his length and strength allows him to finish the job more often than not."

Burch has good range and the speed to chase down ball carriers from the backside. He’s powerful at the point of attack with strong hands. He uses his frame to keep himself clean and offensive linemen at bay. With his quickness of the snap, he’s able to shoot the gap to disrupt the action in the backfield.

"The one place where Burch can stand to improve is definitely against the run," Neel said. "His main strength is against the pass, and he sometimes struggles when getting caught in downhill run blocks."

Fit with the Packers

With his frame and athleticism, Burch checks the boxes and could be a Day 2 target for the Packers as they look to add juice to their pass rush.

"I’m drafting Burch on his talent alone," Neel said. "That would be enough for me to take a chance on him in the second or third round. He has the size and skill to be a great pass-rusher in the NFL, and he’s shown an ability to grow and improve throughout his college years."

A team can never have enough pass rushers and while the hope is for internal growth from Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness, the Packers need another potential disrupter in that room. Burch has the tools to develop into a game changer.

With his initial quickness and power, Burch could provide an immediate impact in Green Bay's defensive end rotation. Hafley could even get creative by keeping Gary and Van Ness on the field while kicking Burch inside on third downs.

Players his size shouldn't be able to move the way Burch does. He has traits that can't be coached. There is no doubt he'd bring juice to Green Bay's pass rush and he has all the tools to develop into a dominant three-down force. Draft him on Day 2 and let him cause chaos behind the line of scrimmage.
