The #Cardinals are bringing DT Isaac Sopoaga in for a workout, per a league source. Assuming that goes well, their plan is to sign him.

Doesn't sound very encouraging,

Isaac Sopoaga - DL - Free Agent
Free agent NT Isaac Sopoaga is visiting the Cardinals, and expected to sign.
Sopoaga is the next man up after the Cardinals struck out on Brett Keisel in their efforts to add a body after losing LE Darnell Dockett to a torn ACL on Monday. Sopoaga appeared in 14 games between the Patriots and Eagles last season, struggling mightily for both teams. He wouldn't be a lock to crack the 53-man roster if he landed in Arizona.

Isaac Sopoaga is my boy. He played DE for some very good San Francisco defenses.

No thanks.

Ugh, guy has been done for a while now.

I don't think he was ever any good. Similar to Adam Snyder. This would be scraping the bottom of the barrel type of signing. We would be better off scouring the waiver wire for a DE after the first set of cuts next week.

I don't know if brining Sopoaga is such a good idea. :p

It's a great idea. Maintains the juiciness of the the player even with extended time on the field.

Remember when the Eagles outlasted some other team in a very hot early season game years ago and they said that they were drinking pickle juice all week in preparation?

The Cowboys it was, way back in 2000 at Texas Stadium. They shellacked them.

The thing to keep in mind is these signings are for immediate need depth. As such the organization signed what they deemed best available, right now. Arians has already stated that they will continue to churn the bottom of the roster. If the coaches are not satisfied, OR if player(s) they deem are better options become available they will be pursued.

It's one thing I love about the current Cardinals organization - they are continuously in the mode of "how can the roster be improved?"

Sapoaga was a pretty good player in SF -- good enough that Philly signed him to 3yr $12m deal. Philly soured on him quickly, traded him to NE -- who then released him.

So what happened? Got fat and happy? Poor scheme fits? Anybody know?

In Philly, poor scheme fit. 100%. New England brought him in because of the Wilfork injury.

And the Cardinals thought Stewart Bradley was good enough to give him a Five year $30M contract.

:bang:

On mans trash is another mans treasure I guess.
