Here is my draft so far....I am pretty happy with it.

Round 1 QB Byron Leftwich (Suggs, Robertson, Newman all gone)

Round 2 DT Ty Warren A stud who had a bit of an ankle problem

Round 3 WR Anquan Boldin 6'2 polished receiver from Florida State. Ran a slow 40 at the combine, but has game speed.

Round 4 DE Antwan Peek Combines with Warren so solve our DL problems

Round 5 WR Shaun McDonald Will fall this far on draft day and shouldn't. An absolute burner and tremendous playmaker. Becomes our PR/KR

This is the sort of draft that would make everyone happy. Got the franchise QB and the good pass rushers. WR problems addressed. Next up, center and CB.

Peek in the 4th is pretty good. I think he's kind of a stretch in early 3rd.

Didn't we have Shaun McDonald last year... When he was called Arnold Jackson?

No we didn't

Arnold Jackson has never been the kind of big play guy that Shaun McDonald is. Arnold Jackson was never placed in the top 100 players in the draft on EVERY draft board I have seen.

When you get to the 5th round, you are looking for special teamers and value picks. McDonald is both.

A far better comparison for McDonald is Steve Smith or even David Patten.

Shaun McDonald is a much better player than Jackson. He is faster, a little bit bigger, and stronger.

I get the feeling that if McDonald is used the right way, he could be a very good slot receiver in the Az Zahir Hakim mold.

In the fifth round he is an absolute steal, and I actually believe he will go earlier. Hell, almost every pick that you have is an absolute steal!

Az Hakim

Is another great comparison. He will definitely make an impact as a slot receiver. What I was picturing when I drafted him was Blake hitting him in stride on a slot post route where he just burns the safety.

If this were our draft, I would say that I would feel much better about our future. Good job Chris!

Round 6

Well, I figured now was the time to get a CB. I wanted a guy with decent size, since that seems to be what we are lacking.

I went with Chris Brown from UAB. He is 6' tall and runs a 4.55. Has good bulk and strength for press coverage and would work best in a cover 2 system.
