The team went 3-4 in those games including an OT loss to the Bengals. So as bad as he played, the team didn't go 0-7.

That was there/then and this is here/now.

Let's see how he does.

BTW: He's won two straight, including a game with a rating of 90.6.

I will be at the game Sunday in St Louis rooting for Anderson like I was his brother. Just concerned about what I saw him do last year. Turnovers cause you to lose games vs less talented teams. We have to start off with a win.

The amazing thing in that story is that people close to the team who actually know stuff are seriously talking about how impressed the staff is with Max Hall.

The sheer odds of going from UDFA to the position Hall is in this quickly are astronomical. Hopefully DA plays great and it doesn't matter but if he doesn't what an amazing story it would be if Max Hall plays in real game this year.

I'm worried about his accuracy (As in hitting his guys in stride, or the open ones) more so than his turnovers.

DA in his best year (2007) had 21 combined turnovers (INT+fumbles)
Warner in
2007: 23
2008: 21
2009: 20

I don't think we'll notice that much of a difference in the turnover department.

warner also had 22 INT and 10 fumbles in 2001 when the rams put up insane offensive numbers. honestly, the difference between warner and anderson is accuracy, plain and simple. if this can be fixed, well, we will have a good season.

Whis has hitched his trailor to the DA express. I hope to God that train leads us to playoff-ville USA but if it doesn't Whis with his hand picked QB has earned the same amount of discredit as credit he did for the playoff successes of the past two seasons. Expectations have been raised because of Whis' greatness. 8-8 is not good enough anymore and an equal or less of a record has be considered a disapointment IMO. I don't want to hear any excuses.

We obvioulsy have (had) the talent to make this expectation reasonable based on the results the past couple years. Any type of failure to reach this low water mark is on Whis considering he tends to get all the credit for the two winning seasons we've had in 08 and 09 under his tudorship. We lost of a lot of talent in he past year but that falls under Whis' plan as far as I'm concerned. If he gets the kudos for the two winning seasons he gets the blame if/when we fall short this season.

In Whis I trust...

The Cards are going from one of the most accurate passers to the worst, even worse than Vince Young , accurate passer in the NFL. I think it's going to be a long year.

Disagree. If Derek Anderson shows that he is incapable of being a quality starting QB, Max Hall will get an early start to his career. I believe that Whiz will call an offense that Derek Anderson can play well enough in to win games for us. If not however, we will see what type of QB we have in Max Hall when the games count. Either way, I am not worried.

How can you wipe the slate clean of DA's bad years and not include that in the evaluation?

We may have never gone after Kurt Warner had we looked at his last two years. Anderson had one great year so we know he has it in him. He is young and if he works out we will be a contender for some years. How long a contract did we sign him to? Hope it was for 2-3 years and not one.

Just looked it up and Anderson's contract info is below. He is taller than I realized at 6'6" but still a mobile guy.

Derek Anderson | Quarterback
TEAM: Arizona Cardinals
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'6' / 230
DOB: 6/15/1983
AGE: 27
COLLEGE: Oregon State
CONTRACT INFO: 3/17/2010: Signed a two-year, $7.25 million contract. Details

There is one very important thing that we have not really seen so far because Fitz has been out. And that is that Larry has arguably the best and strongest hands in the NFL. If anybody can make Derek Anderson look good it will be Fitzgerald who will be able to hang on to DA's rockets better than any of our other WRs.

Seriously, for all those who've said that Braylon Edwards made Anderson's 2007 season... Fine. I hope Fitzgerald and a deep Cardinals receiving corps do the same in 2010.

Lot of people with a lot of QB goggles on this one, man some people are going to be shocked in the mornin light.

Grass is always greener on the other side, course sometimes that's cause there's a lot of crap over there.

My dad's conspiracy theory: Whiz has purposely backed himself into a corner so he has NO CHOICE but to start Max Hall at some point this season. He properly demonized Leinart (for right or wrong), named a starter that is flip-a-coin hot and cold, and is currently playing his favorite song, "Slow down on the Hall-is-great talk." My dad thinks Whiz saw Hall at the first camp and made his decision then to find a way to justify making him the starter.

My dad also thinks NASA staged the moon landing, so there.

Kinda like we did with Warners years in New York?

But we didn't. The majority of people were very concerned about Warner because of his play not only in NY but in 2005 and early 2006 in Arizona. And rightly so.

Warner was the exception not the rule. I can't find too many other QBs who went from HOF level to the scrap heap and back to HOF level years later like Kurt.

Well you can judge the future by what happened in the past. Daryl Blackstock was too slow for the NFL one year so the odds were good he'd be too slow the next year and that was the correct assessment so he got cut. But nothing in this life is dead solid perfect because every once in awhile you get a guy like Warner who confounds the odds.

You can't just be a Pollyanna and wish good things to happen. You have to look at prior results and make decisions and preparations based on that data. Otherwise you'd never have learned that sticking your hand in a fire burns the heck out of your fingers.

Didn't Whis get a good look at Anderson when he was coaching with the Steelers playing the Browns twice a season, I think he saw something then that made him think Anderson had a chance with us to be more than a backup now

No because DA only played one game vs Pitt while CKW was there.

Good game for DA though. 21-37-276-1-1 Of course 113 of those yards and the TD came after the Browns were behind 27-0.
