This is pretty significant news for USL and soccer fans. It'll be interesting to see how this works and if it forces the MLS to react.

It could make the US more interesting or encourage development in the lower tiers

It won't impact MLS in the slightest.

The stadium requirements for USL D1 will be a challenge for a lot of teams - the costs of operating a stadium over 15,000 seats is going to be a challenge while keeping a ticketing model that allows people to show up and a media deal that doesn't add a ton

It very well could collapse if a bunch of teams invest to get to that standard and then fall into financial difficulty
