I disagree. That would be nice, but the Suns centers are not that bad defensively. Ostertag went wild because he was taking easy shots all night long because the Suns perimeter players were allowing too much penetration. Also Amare Stoudemire kept losing track of him when Karl Malone had the ball.
I think the Suns need a center who can consistently hit a mid-range jump shot. The Phoenix offense would be unstoppable with a center who could shoot like Drobniak in Seattle or Miller in Indiana. I'm not saying they're going to realistically find a center like that, but it's what they need most. The Utah Jazz packed in the defense all night long, Marbury did not shoot well, and the Suns offense struggled. I don't think Ostertag came out of the paint more than a few times on either end of the court the whole game.
Another thing that has been concerning the is that since Penny Hardaway started playing increased minutes the Phoenix Suns offense has really slowed down. When he takes it up the court it takes half the shot clock just to get into any sort of offense. I really think Marbury and Joe Johnson should be pushing the ball like they were before Hardaway's return.
Where was Tom Gugliotta last night? I know hindsight is 20/20, but he is one of the Suns better players against the zone and against defenses that play the middle.
