Cool beans!

I currently have been working with a contracting company as a gofer.

It is a full time job that pays enough for me to buy my own health insurance, and pay the bills! Sweet Nectar.

BUT the woman gets out of college soon, and since we are not tied down to jobs we can move anywhere once she gets out of college.

Top 3 Places we are looking to move to:
1. Australia - since I found out I am a socialist I guess that is a good place for me to go

2. Tuscon?, Arizona - told by many that it is a great place to live

3. Seattle, Wash - since I love the Northwest.

So the point is we want to visit all these places.

I said if we are going to visit all these places can I see a Cards game when we go to Arizona? The answer was Yes, and I am Psyched.

So where do I go? What are the things to see in Arizona?

I really just want to go see a Cards game in Arizona!

Peace

Tucson?! I think the Tucson tourism office just busted out laughing.

I would visit Duluth before Tucson. Just come to Phoenix, atleast you can see the grand canyon and see the Cardinals. Plus you would be helping to fund the stadium

Just come here during Cards camp. Flagstaff is like the northwest in AZ, you can check out brown town (Tucson), and the Valley.

The west is different than the east in many ways.

Yeah I still REALLY REALLY want to move thier but I got to make a little money before I can go up there.

Maine's economy and job market is absolutely horrible. I have to make some $, save it, and get a finacial plan together before I go up there. Maine is my final desination. Long term goal and such.

I still check the employement websites for Maine everyday in the hope I can find a job there but it is really really hard to do.

Australia, Arizona, Seattle have better job markets than most believe it or not.

Peace

You can always move in the NorthWest Phoenix. I'll be living near the stadium ( 5min drive ).

If you are a socialist (I have some socialist leanings myself) and you like the northwest, why not Vancouver, British Columbia?

You get two of your criteria right there (northwest and socialist).

BTW, Phoenix is much larger, yet more diverse than Tucson. You could choose to live in Phoenix, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe (where I live), Apache Junction (boondocks), Peoria, Avondale, Glendale, Surprise, Anthem, Ahwatukee, Litchfield Park, Buckeye, etc.

Plus you could get Cards season tickets! Coyotes games, Suns games, ASU, etc. 1 hour and a half (or a little less if you drive fast) to Flagstaff. About 2 1/2 or so hours from the Grand Canyon. 4-5 hours to Rocky Point (great place to go to the beach and get drunk :p ), Mexico. 6 hours or so to San Diego (or Vegas). And last and certainly least, 90 minutes to Tuckson.

The wifey and I are considering moving to AZ, NV or KY because we're looking to buy a home and home prices in California are insane. How's the real estate market in Phoenix vs. other parts of the state?

Tucson

Bah! I lived in Tucson for three years and loved it. The economy of Tucson is a little repressed compared to a place like Phoenix, but the town is friendly and the cost of living is low.

I'd live there again if thats where the jobs were.

Rugrat - From the perspective of a fellow easterner - what you might want to see depends on what you're interested in.

If you're into scenery, it's gorgeous and quite varied. Check out the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Country (near Sedona), hills covered with sajuero cactus and various desert rock formations in all areas of the state.

If you like certain types of wildlife, you could walk in the midst of Tiger, Coontail (Diamondback), Mohave and several other species of rattlesnake. And while practically impossible to catch a glimpse, I did see a photo of a rare Jaguar climbing a rock formation in the southern part of the state.

If you're into anthropology and archaeology, there ancient Native American digs throughout the State - ranging from cliff dwellings to ruins of villages on valley floors.

If you're into Native crafts and artifacts, there are places throughout the state to visit.

Foodwise - there's lots of good chow - I even found an acceptable Jewish deli in Old Scottsdale.

If you're into Wild West History, you'll find that too.

If you're into stuff like golf and tennis, stay at a resort.

If you're into winning football - well...uh...I suggest you relocate in Charlotte, NC or Bahston.

The ONLY reason these jokers badmouth Tucson is because of the UofA jealousy they harbor as Sun Devil fans. Other than that, they have no real first-hand experience. :D

Personally, I didn't like Tucson, but I'm a big city kind of guy. I also dislike Phoenix.

True to a point, but I have also been down in that dustbowl of a town and was far from impressed. :D

I really liked Tucson. I went to the U of A for five years and it was great!

I live in Flagstaff now and I love it here. I don't know what the job market is like for your line of work though. The cost of living is higher than in PHX or Tucson.

When I was in the Army I was stationed at Ft. Lewis for two years, south of Tacoma. It is really beautiful there! There are rivers and streams all over the place and it is really green. Of course, it rains like a cow pissing on a flat rock 9 months out of the year also. Having lived virtually my whole life in Southern California and Arizona, I have to say I never could get used to it. It gets really depressing. The cost of living can be pretty high in the Seattle area also.

All places have their good and bad points. Personally, Phoenix is too hot and crowded for me. Nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. :)

I live on the west coast of Arizona near Laughlin and my town is being overrun by thousands of California refugees who sold the $50k house they purchased 20 years ago for $400k. They are looking to build their retirement home with some of the money...in this area you could buy a nice house starting around $110k or less, or build the house of your dreams for $125k+. Some subivisions are selling out before the plats are even recorded.

Can any of you Phoenix boys tell me about Deer Valley? My son will be moving down to the Phoenix area in July and his school is in Deer Valley. Is that a nice area or should he look for an apartment elsewhere?
