He was only there for about 7 games. Maybe the guaranteed money is more.

Yeah, but 7 games is enough to get to know the team and city around you, plus get a decent handle on the system. Maybe he didn't want to move all the way across the country?

It's tough to know what happened behind the scenes. Did the Cards express interest and if so was Monroe interested? Maybe he wasn't interested in coming here, we'll probably never know how the search for a LT actually occurred.

And it wasn't the same amount :)

Never really watched Veldheer play. I have no idea what to expect from this signing. How is he blocking speed rushers?

Jurecki said the cardinals didn't like Monroe's work ethic. They have questions about him

How does that even fit? Something's off. No way he could have gotten the sort of signing bonus that was reported, because the signing bonus hit every season is more than 2.5 per year and he needs to have a base salary as well, even if it's just the minimum corresponding to his years in the league.

Would like to know more.

edit: Oh I see. 6.5 million in signing bonus. That's a TON less then was initially reported.

From the link banky posted
LT Jared Veldheer signed a five year $35 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals on March 11, 2014. Veldheer received a $6.25 million signing bonus and a total of $10.5 million i n fully guaranteed salary. Veldheer can earn an additional $6.5 million in full guarantees over the life of the contract. Veldheer is eligible for per game active roster bonuses that total $500,000 from 2015-2018. Base salaries of the contract are $1,250,000(2014), $6,000,000(2015), $6,500,000(2016), $6,500,000(2017), and $6,500,000(2018).

We got a good amount of capspace leftover to sign a good bit more.

..and the Raiders paid 21 million guaranteed for Saffold, wow.

Vendeheer's deal is only a 2.5Mil cap hit in 2014

Including the Colledge money we had about 21Mil going into today. Minus Feeley and Rucker, which I believe total 2Mil, so 19 Mil minus 2.5 for Veldeheer, should put us around 16.5 Mil left!!!!!!!
