How does that even fit? Something's off. No way he could have gotten the sort of signing bonus that was reported, because the signing bonus hit every season is more than 2.5 per year and he needs to have a base salary as well, even if it's just the minimum corresponding to his years in the league.

Would like to know more.

edit: Oh I see. 6.5 million in signing bonus. That's a TON less then was initially reported.

From the link banky posted

We got a good amount of capspace leftover to sign a good bit more.

..and the Raiders paid 21 million guaranteed for Saffold, wow.

"Let's see, carry the one . . . ahhh . . . dang it. Where's my slide rule? Ahhhh . . . FORGET IT! Divide everything by five. Yeah, that's the ticket!"

Lincoln Kennedy raiders analyst coming up on xtra 910

Missed the beginning.

Says (Kennedy) he's aggressive, tends to be a bit overaggressive. Needs to settle down a bit and learn to wait for things to come to him. But he'll learn that as he gets more reps.

Says he's a big upgrade over what we had and that he's a solid tackle.

Yes also says he has legit all pro talent and potential. Solid in the run game but a much better pass blocker at this point in his career. Said he's very hungry to get better. Nothing but good things to say about him

Definitely not your fathers Cardinals.

Very good move and contract and striking immediately at a position of desperate need.

Checking out some raiders boards and many are saying he's the type of guy you build around. Also found this nugget.

@raiders343 A fair offer from the Raiders never happened. Nothing near the Saffold deal. We will always ❤️ Raider Nation.

I'm assuming Mary Veldheer is a wife/sister/mom of Jared. (my guess is wife).

I am sorry but I must temper my joy. We still and always will need a equally good/starting backup at LT. As good as this guy might be and knowing Cards injury tendencies, you never know how many games we will have him each season. Just think of the excitement of acquiring Cooper and Williams. It is never too long before we are all shaking our heads in disbelief over that ugly injury bug biting us again before the season barely gets off the ground. We seem to always be playing with a patchwork combo of players on both side of the ball throughout each season.

I am just saying, unless we feel we have another player we feel would be a good starting OLT on the team, we still need to draft one. Just look back at all the teams whose season was ruined when their OL got decimated the last couple years. Ideally, it would be good if the coach thinks we already have a guy who is still learning and improving to the point that he could fill that role as this year goes on.

fellas,...when this came up on NFL mobile, well,...I nearly cried....our offense got much better today...just by this addition alone...when you factor in the return of Cooper this season,...wow,just wow... I usually try and maintain some calm about these things,....but I am throwing cautious optimism out the window.... this signing is HUGE!! it even surprises me how team friendly the contract is,...almost no hit up front....makes you wonder who sold it to him,...and what kind of off season plan they laid out for him to convince him to sign it.

we just plugged an artery that has been gushing the lifeblood of this team for ten years,...and it cost us almost nothing...........which IMO means the plan is to pick up a couple more big time "bandaids"....

Once again Keim works his magic. Not only got the signing done quickly, but worked it very team friendly. Disner's hands appear to be all over this contract, (preparing the way for working on PP's extension). This is a very solid signing for us, at a more than reasonable price. The upside on this guy is very promising.

Especially when you consider our 2007 Deal with Levi Brown was for 6 yrs 62M w/18M guaranteed and our next deal in 2012 was 5 years 30M.

OH dear God that is a dose of perspective right there. Praise Jesus for Steve Kiem and more importantly the demise of Rod Graves!

Jurecki said the cardinals didn't like Monroe's work ethic. They have questions about him

Has been this way from the get when he was on the trde block last year. People are more familiar with Monroe so they slurp him up. But Veldheer is 10X the worker and has improved year by year other then his triceps set back in 2013 and even then he came back at Game 12.

everything I have researched on him last 48 hours is A) unebelievable work ethic B) self made guy C) great locker room guy D) great guy in the community and team leader.

So this is a nails signing IMO and especially with the contract. With both Monroe and ALbert, you risk those two fatties getting lazy now that they got paid. I dont think that will be an issue with Jared.

All those lamenting the loss off Dansby as a leader, we may have found a new one at LT.

Man...I really hope this guy doesn't eventually get busted for PEDs. Dude looks like Tony Mandarich.

You look at him in his uniform and he really doesn't look that muscular. That gym picture has been around forever.

And half the league is on PEDs.

Great start by the Cardinals, with lots of moolah left for the stretch. I can't complain about this signing one bit, justa happy hippie right about now. I thought we would be paying more also.

Biggest concern with this guy is his health to me.

Hes got so much muscle, I worry itll just tear right off the bone (like his triceps did last year)

being jacked is not a prerequisite to being a great player. Its all technique. So as cool as it is having 'the hulk' as our LT, it makes no difference how big he is.
