Yes come get Iphone from us we have an unlimited usage plan.
Ok well not really now we have you and you can't get away, you are going to a tiered billed for usage plan.
Talk about bait and switch, yeah they talk about customer options but we know that metered billing plans are a way of extracting more $$$ from us, certainly not saving $$$ as they are billed.
I was in the same boat this weekend. Almost purchased an Iphone. The way they advertised was like they had "unlimited" plans like Sprint. That is not the case. When you factor in throttling, charging for tiers of text messages, their "limited" unlimited plan and the fewer minutes......I was really disappointed. I spent 3 hours trying to talk myself into the Iphone 4.
I was actually sitting at the store with an Iphone 4 in hand ready to buy when they went over all the charges and pricing plan. I thought I was finally going to take the plunge with the Iphone 4 at the start of the day. I was going to purchase one for myself and another for the wife. After we went through everything I just couldn't do it. Not because of the cost of the phone (the one I went with was the same price) but because the plan simply sucked.
Then I looked at Plan B which was the Android HTC EVO 4G. Played with both phones for a long period of time (still trying to talk myself into the Iphone 4). Finally when I factored in Price of phone, Price of plan, features of phone and available applications....I decided against the Iphone. I finally had a chance to get one and I passed. I chose the Android phone.
I am extremely happy with my Android phone. Not only does it do everything the Iphone can do but you can find a laundry list of free applications. In some cases ones almost identical to the ones you have to pay for on the Iphone. Now factor in the Sprint unlimited data plan (which gives me more minutes, unlimited Text and unlimited data) all for about 45 dollars less per month then the Iphone 4 competing package from Verizon.
Now that I have had time to play with my Andriod the past couple of days....I am even more stoked about my purchase. My wife also picked up an Android (EVO Shift) which is basically the same phone (smaller screen with sliding keyboard) and she too feels it's the best phone she has ever had. Not only would I not hesitate to recommend an Android phone but my desire for an Iphone is gone. Probably for good unless some future version a couple years from now reinvents phones.
I was really disappointed in Verizon's Iphone 4 offering. I thought by adding another carrier it would be much more competitive in terms of pricing plans. I am not placing blame because maybe Apple is holding Verizon's feet to the fire. At the end of the day Verizon feels more like they are jumping on the bandwagon versus creating a competitive pricing structure. Just really disappointed but ultimately it worked in my favor and introduced me to a fantastic phone in the Android.
