Very sad news

Tommy Jones passed away last Thursday from brain cancer. I always enjoyed listening to him when he would talk about the top prospects during Diamonback games.

RIP Tommy.

Very sorry to hear that. Man, lot of that going around. RIP

He and I used to occasionally email when he was farm director, and we'd chat about prospects and guys we should draft. When I emailed that we should be looking very seriously at Pedroia, his response was, "I can only tell you that I don't have a whole lot more say in these decisions than you do."

What a real downer in what's otherwise been an amazing weekend. He deserves a lot of credit for the success so far of the Diamondbacks youth movement, a lot of prospects went through his door on their way to the bigs. 54 is way too young to go, I hope he rests in peace.
