C'mon. That stuff was HIGHlarious. People need to relax. Making fun of ourselves, and each other is what makes this world great.

That said, the punishment fit the crime. I hope Bach is sipping his coffee thinking, "worth it."
While I agree that it was hilarious, it is one of the visions of the person who created the board to keep it PG13 friendly. So we try to abide by those standards when moderating...

The FA DT class blows.

The best guy available is probably BJ Hill or Foley Fatukasi. It's really bad.

Best hope is someone like Jon Allen gets cut, but otherwise we ain't fixing iDL in FA.
Yes, and there are some very good DL that would be available in this draft at 16. Bring in at least 1 FA veteran Edge & hopefully Ojulari is what many have said he is (double digit sack guy).

What very few have said he is a double-digit sack guy but many hope he may be. Desperately and hoping not in vain, but they hope for it. Chances are low.

That said, I like your plan. If only we had a good FA edge crop like LAST year.

I think when you have glaring holes, you don't consider guys who remain unproven. If Ojulari breaks out, then it's just gravy.

Hill certainly doesn’t look terrible. It would allow us th get the best edge available in the first.
Serious consideration. Cards keep saying they want to build through draft. However, with only 5 picks they need to get serious about free agency. If they don’t spend this year they deserve the criticism I keep hearing. The best way to use free agency is to fill holes that are not typically draft deep. Also like this example getting someone like Hill enables you to change strategy and maybe go earlier to attack a different need. The problem arises when there are few players in free agency at a widely needed position. There may be serious competition for Hill and you can’t just throw money at a need. Sometimes you have to make do with what’s reasonably affordable.

I think they have six after they got a seventh for Cameron Thomas.

This is a weird situation. It was reported at the time that they did, but that pick has vanished. It was not reported as conditional, but it must have been. I’ve asked around and that’s the only possibility suggested. It was a seventh.

No, Monti deserves full-bore criticism for not signing a vet edge last season. I mean, the fact that we're begging in this thread for vet edges again THIS year, in a worse crop of FA edges, says it all. This was a definite failure last offseason. I don't think anyone can argue it wasn't.

Would rather have Javon Hargrave (9ers have already announced he is getting cut) vs Hill.
I’ve inquired about him. His rehab has gone well and he should be fully recovered by the season’s start. The Niners feel he was on the downside of his career and would be less productive than in the past. Perhaps a 5-7 sack guy but he likely will get a multiyear contract and continue downward.

exactly - monti needs the wake the hell up - other teams have passed us by - ive never been a gm but in today's nfl i imagine pleasing the owner is #1 - this gives monti a 2-3 year excuse for trying to get the best out of mikey's biggest investment - after that it's gotta be getting to the quarterback

if monti can't get it done this year screw monti - if he doesn't see edge as the glaring priority he's done - if he busts out the duct tape for the third year in a row he's got to go

That is what infuriates me. The Edge market was practically booming last off-season and we sat on our ass, watched the parade go by and even with a bevy of draft picks, didn’t move up to get a blue chip edge, we sat on our hands and took a project who did next to nothing.
But if we signed one and won more games it would’ve cost us the 16th pick.

It is inexcusable looking at it in hindsight. Who knew Houston would finally turn the corner with the 2nd drafted QB in the draft instead of the first? With a rookie head coach...

Just about everyone going into the season thought that the pick would be top 5. It was like Monti was on a nut flush draw, after already having top pair on an otherwise dry board. (excuse the poker reference)

It isn't like we also didn't have a need a tackle as well.
Dj Humphries Hasn’t gotten hurt yet and we had NO passrusher. It was inexcusable.

Who has said BJ is a double digit sack guy and can you get their dealers’ number so I can get what they’re smoking?

Man, Nichols and Jones are just bad starters. They were both on ice skates in every game I watched them. I can accept them as part of a rotation, but DT desperately needs an upgrade, and relying on DRob is asking a lot.

You can't rely on the 26th pick in year 2 but you can rely on the 16th pick as a rookie?
