Dirty AF!
Yep he probably could've avoided the whole hit. IMO Kiko clearly was getting lower as he got closer & exploded into the hit with his shoulder to Flaccos head. It was a BS cheap shot, Burfect style no doubt!!!If you watch in slow-mo the punk ass threw his elbow
I understand that you are upset about the after effects of a legal hit on a fragile, older QB...but the two QB hits by Alec Ogletree on Palmer vs Alonso's dirty hit on Flacco, couldn't be more different. When another team's QB gets a vicious hit the lineman stick up and brawl for the guy. When CP gets hit or knocked out our lineman just sulk and wonder where did that blitz come from?

Let me ask you all something? How is it fair to the defense that a QB can break from the pocket, start running down field like a running back, and when he sees he's about to get hit, gets to go into a slide? I'm not talking scrambling escaping from a sack, runs 5 yards, and goes into a slide but like Flacco, running down field past 10-15 yards like a RB. Can a running back run for 20 yards and just go down like that?

I have never liked that rule. QB's should be able to slide say 5 yards beyond line of scrimmage, if beyond that, they are subject to normal tackling.
Or, a version of the fair catch rule - must slide when a defender is near.
I don't see an elbow at all. I see him throwing his shoulder. All I have is the tweet from the link so if there's another angle showing the elbow I'd like to see it but from the vantage point we have, I see Alonso throwing a shoulder.
I'm kinda leaning this way, too. It sure sucked for Flacco, but I don't think it was a deliberate late hit. The rule sucks. There was no deliberate elbow, shoulder or head.
Flacco is at fault because he was running full bore (and being lined up by the tacklers) and suddenly dropped, at that point Alonzo had already launched ....
if anything (when you watch it in slow motion) Alonzo is pulling his head AWAY from contact, way to late to stop the hit but he managed to keep his head out of it, had Flacco not dropped it would simply have been a very nice (if painful for Flacco) tackle....
