I didn't realize they had expanded the defenseless player rule. This used to be a good/clean hit, probably as recently as 2-3 years ago. You know, unless AW did it.

fine all they want - that is a good clean hit and one that is avoidable if the defender in pursuit actually looked forward .... c'est la vie

fine was expected, but doesn't really change anything

He led with the top of the helmet. A hit like that is clearly against the rules and very dangerous for BOTH players. The hitting player has a huge risk of neck injury.

also, fwiw there were these two blocks in the KC/Sea game that are a lot like the tate hit ..... neither was fined or flagged and yes, I was completely fine with the seahawk who got blown up - it's football (and 45 for the chiefs launched a lot more than tate did)

No he didn't - that is 100% factually incorrect ... if he led with the top of his helmet it's amazing that his shoulder and hands made first contact, which would be factually correct

Hypothetical..I bet those words would change if the Hawks best players career ends on a hit like that.

So, if Russell Wilson turns into an all pro QB & gets jacked like Warner did & never plays another down again, you're ok with it? Not a chance! :mulli:

Absolutely OK with it ....... it would suck, but players get injured all the time in the game

As shown, there wasn't a single outcry in seahawks game when they had a player get lit up in the preseason

Maybe it's the hockey fan in me, I don't know - but sometimes your guys gets popped ...... there have been many times where players I like have had their head down in the neutral zone and have paid the price for it ..... if you appreciate the play when your guys do it you can't complain when it happens in reverse and I don't .... if someone dragged their knee through or came up with an elbow or something else it's a different story

If any seahawks player is in active pursuit of a ball carrier and gets blown up on a block to the chest, yeah that's fair game

This wasn't a situation where there was an interception or fumble and all of a sudden a QB is potential blocker and some guy clears him 20 yards from the ball

This is a guy who was in coverage - released to pursue the ball and get hit in the chest by the guy who he was just covering right next to the ball .... I'll defend that play regardless of the color shirt
