I was just thinking, had the ref not blown that call when Victor Cruz supposedly "gave himself up" (also known by the rest of the world as a fumble.) The Cards would've likely been in the playoffs and the G-man would've missed the playoffs giving the division to the Cowgirls.
Eli Manning wouldn't be discussed with all the "is he great" talk thats been going on and Tom Coughlin would've likely been fired...instead they play for the Lombardi trophy today.
Isn't the NFL funny like that

Considering the Gmen won the NFC east I don't think so! Cards had a worse record that 10-6 lions & falcons even if Redbirds finished 9-7

Point in the Gmen would've missed the playoffs and wouldn't be hoisting the Lombardi trophy right now...

I don't think so...but you also said cards would've been in the playoffs which I know wouldn't have happened

Article in the NY Times this morning said it was the #1 play that changed things and put the Giants in the Superbowl. "The Fumble That Wasn't"

At least some people in NY realize that that play was total garbage. The Cards won that game fair and square and no one will ever tell me otherwise. They should put an asterix next to that game in all Cardinal publications.

I watched the Super Bowl with some Giant fans and when they kept complaining about some "questionable" no calls, I literally wanted to puke. No fan of the Steelers, Giants, Cowboys, Patriots, etc... should ever complain about penalties...EVER!

I think randomness has a far bigger impact on the results in the NFL than most people realize or are willing to admit.

I think any teams record has at least a two game swing inherent in that record -- two games that could have gone the other way on the basis of a single play in each game. I am not referring simply to referee blown calls -- but all the little bounces of the football where a game can change.

Heck-- on the final play of last night's game-- that tip on the hail mary pass goes about 12 inches to one side, Gronkowski very well catches it to win the game.

I think everybody realizes that. The guy who got his 2nd SB MVP even said so in the locker room after that game
