The whole scene in the muslim compound with all the mirrors was useless fluff.

I am, however, looking forward to Ivar and Alfred squaring off. Who knew Vikings could play chess, lol

How much of history do you want to know?

Well, the story has gotten really far flung now. They need two hour episodes to fully keep up each story each week. Perhaps in season 5 they will narrow it back to the English, the Vikings and the Normans.

Except the stories will be trimmed down now, at least for a while. All the Ragnar bloat is gone.

I know the history behind it and much is fuzzy and some debated. Wasn't really looking for documentary level accuracy to be honest. The show is going to take a huge blow IMO but we shall see.

I think they had to draw out the ragnar plot so they could further develop Ivar....from this point forward we will follow Ivar and Beorn......Beorn raiding the med....Ivar returning to sack England...
I found it interesting that Flokie had such deep respect for the devotion of the muslims in the church...I wonder if it stems from his own slip in faith or goes back further to when Athelstan knew he came to kill him but showed no fear.
Ivar is quickly becoming my favorite character on the show. he has been ruthless and just a bit insane since he was a baby... but those last weeks with Ragnar has changed him as he is thinking things through rather than erupting with emotion....since the exact nature of "the boneless" is unknown I am curious to see how he accomplishes all that he did while hampered by the handicap history channel has given him..........I am also very curious to see what he is cooking up in that forge

I was replying to DeAnna, specifically her thing about Ivar and Alfred squaring off. Some things are fuzzy and much debated, and some are almost 100 percent known. I didn't know if she wanted me to ruin anything by telling her how things happened/what happened. Of course, the show might change things anyway :)

Oh, I know about the history of Alfred the Great defeating the Great Heathen Army. Just curious to see how it plays out on the show.

AND ... I still think George Blagden (Athelstan) will come back as some other character further down the series.

I gotcha. I was referring to Ragnar and his story line.

Well, he does get beheaded, no? or is that the other King L

Your right there! Hazard of the job. lol But with Vikings, How long do they think the show will run, especially without Ragnar? I know his sons go on to become more famous than their father but the show seems to have lost steam already and more original cast members are sure to be lost soon. Not sure have many more seasons are planned?

Back to "Versailles". Has anyone watched this series yet?

Thanks for the tip on that series. First I have heard of it.

From the beginning, the creator says he intends for the series to run until Leif Erickson discovers America. I don't think they realized how awesome of a job Fimmel would do playing Ragnar, he created an iconic character. That said, it takes some stones to stick to the original plan rather than basically turning it into the "Adventures of Ragnar and Sons".

Even if it is cancelled in America, the series is even more popular in Europe where the shows are R rated.

Damnit for some reason my Dvr didn't catch eps 1-9 for the season. I have 10-18. Anyone know where I can find the rest (was hoping Netflix, but seems not)?

Or did you already watch 1-9? Remember it was a split season and that 1-9 were out much earlier last year.
No, somehow my dvr blew it. And even the link to the history channel website won't give me those episodes. My only option is to spend $39 and buy the season on iTunes. Sux.

You can find the first half of the season on DVD or BluRay for less than 20 bucks. I saw it at Target this past weekend.

If you are not too far beyond such primitive technology. :)

It's not on Netflix but Hulu has all the episodes starting from Season 1. I usually just catch the most current episode the next day on the History Channel but they're only up for a limited time.

Exactly. Not really a blood eagle when you pulverize the internal organs. My buddy picked on me for being a huge nerd because I commented on it :)
lmao...even my ol'lady during the show commented,..."damn, Beorn is being way to violent cutting those ribs...they guy is gonna die before he gets his lungs pulled out"
