Big trade for Eagles.. an extra first and a fourth for a guy that at best was keeping the seat warm for Carson Wentz

That's probably as good a recovery as the Vikes could have done-- although the price is steep for a QB that has been pretty "meh" for his career.

I guess the future is now in Philly.

Wade Phillips broke the news on Twitter a full 45 minutes before any news outlet had it. He deleted the tweet almost instantly but someone had already screen-grabbed it. lol

The Browns should LOVE this trade. They have Philly's 1st rounder this year. Should cost the Eagles atleast 1 or 2 wins.

Knee-jerk reaction by Minnesota. Giving up a first for an underachieving one-year rental should be grounds for Rick Spielman's immediate termination if the team misses the playoffs this season. I would go as far as to say that Bradford is no better than Shaun Hill. Their stats are pretty comparable, in fact.

Even with Teddy B, Minnesota wasn't winning the Super Bowl, and now, they're jeopardizing building for the future.

Perhaps but might be more than a one year rental depending on just how bad that Teddy's Knee-jerk injury is.

Great trade by Eagles. Actually, I think it's pretty damn good for both. The hard part will be getting Bradford worked in. They're going to essentially forfeit some early season games. He has two years on his deal I think which is perfect for the Vikes since Bridgewater won't be ready by next year anyway. I love Chase Daniel and am really excited to see him get a shot. Gotta wonder what the Eagles will do with all the extra money on their books now. The big thing now is Minnesota has to hope and pray they can keep Bradford upright and healthy.

I would be so pissed as a Minnesota fan.

First and forth for Sam Bradford? And you probably only need him one year until your franchise guy comes back? Wow

I'm waiting to hear from the Philadelphia faithful on this. The good news for them as they dump that albatross of a contract. The question is, who's starting? Daniels or Wentz?

Good trade for both sides. Bradford gets his wish to go somewhere he's wanted (even if it's for injury), which has a good team, and he gets to lead them for likely the next two seasons. The Vikings needed a two year option, and they got a guy with a two year contract. I really don't think Bridgewater will be ready by the start of next season.

That's a really bad knee injury and was what, about 53 weeks from the start of next season? Too soon imo. He's going to need practice and such, and I just don't think he can get out there in 10 or so months and start practicing... nor would you likely want him to.

Having a two year plan is more prudent, and they found a perfect fit on that with Bradford.

Bradford wanted out, he got the best situation possible for him. Of course Bradford is also fairly likely to get injured himself during these next two years. Guy just has that history. But what were the Vikings going to do? 1st and a 4th to save their season, and he should throw more than 14 TD passes, though Teddy himself likely would have as well.

If he's better by the 2nd half of next season, they got a quality backup for the 2017 stretch run.

The Vikings might be better now then they were with Bridgewater. I'm no Bradford fan, and remember the stretch of 15 games where John Skelton outplayed him, but Bridgewater just wasn't putting up good numbers at all. Bridgewater is more of a game manager, and Bradford give them a higher ceiling for offensive output. Because of that they might be even more dangerous now.

They can win a Superbowl. Anyone that makes the playoffs can. This is the best team Sam has ever been on in the NFL. I wouldn't discount them yet. It'll be interesting to see how fast he picks up the offense, but Pat Shurmur is the Vikes TE coach, so perhaps he can help relate new terminology to old terminology to help him along.

The Vikes had to make this move. In the NFL next year doesn't mean anything. Next year (or 2018 as it might take Bridgewater that long to really make it back), AP might be old, other guys might be injured. Salary cap might raise it's ugly head. Who knows. Right now they have a shot at a Superbowl, and the Bridgewater injury destroyed that.

1st and a 4th is a ton to give up, but now they are back in the game, with a really good team. It sucks, but I can't fault them. It saved their season. Gives their fans something to watch. They can still win it all.

For the life of me, it's insane how much Bradford has sucked at times, and how injury prone he's been, but the guy keeps getting paid and keeps getting traded for with high picks. Guy probably craps four leaf clovers.

I wonder what EDP on youtube is going to think.

It's a bit like highway robbery but Minnesota had little choice. They have a very good team with an aging but still dominant running back. They can't afford to waste his last few relevant years. So, right move for the Vikings and a great deal for Philadelphia.

The complete contradiction above exactly captures how i feel. They "had to do it" and yet Bradford isn't good.

First, the Vikings did NOT have to make this move. They have an outstanding running game and defense, which was enough for them to win 11 games and give the Cardinals fits in AZ last year. And Hill (experienced in thier system, with a career 85 passer rating) probably could've managed the team as well as Bridgewater (career 87 rating, albeit with his arrow pointing up) OR Bradford (career 81 rating, no experience in the system, fragile as glass, huge salary, traded away from two teams). So why again did they "HAVE" to trade a #1 and a #4 for a short-term rental of an expensive guy who likely adds no value? I assume he'll start the season as Hill's backup, and very well may remain in that role.

Where is the shrug emoticon on this new forum software?!?

So that'll be 6 coordinators in 6 years for Bradford? At least he's got Norv Turner and finally some talent around him.

Teddy's knee must be completely shot.

Good points, Gator! Playing under Norv Turner is a boon for Bradford, plus, as you say, the Vikings have power on both sides of the ball.

What i like about this is that now Green Bay may not waltz through that division. No one wants to play at Lambeau in January.

A first round pick for this guy?

:biglaugh:

The Viking should give up no more than that fourth rounder… Whomever is running their front office should be fired mortgaging their future for a known and proven mediocre below average quarterback... They already had that in Shaun Hill...

I think this trade tells us that Teddy's knee might be worse than anyone is letting on...Heard on the radio this morning that their are doubts he may be able to even play in 2017.

I think it's comical teams keep giving up high draft picks for a QB who IMO is no better than most other pedestrian journeymen NFL QBs!!! Wow

Who keeps brainwashing these teams on Bradfords abilities? I just don't get it.
