Vikings trade for Sam Bradford

Teddy's knee must be completely shot.

This is what I thought. Brigdewater might be done when they do this. With that D and AP running the Ball. Not a huge drop off from Foles etc. to Bradford in that set up

Shaun Hill, whose stats are comparable to Bradford's, can play two more seasons in the NFL with similar production, and the team could've kept two valuable draft picks for the future. Enough time to wait for Teddy B to come back and/or find his replacement if his injury is indeed career threatening.

Minnesota didn't have to do this move. Philadelphia took advantage of Spielman's paranoia and got their first round pick back for next season. Oddly enough, this comes at the heels of Philly being awarded the draft for next season.

And the Eagles ability to fleece other teams for their extra barely mediocre QB loves on....

It's uncanny how they've been so successful in this department.

The vikings have to play GB twice, Detroit twice, Carolina, Arizona, Houston and New York. All of those teams have the potential to beat the hell out of Bradford. He isn't even going to make it to the playoffs if the Vikings even make the playoffs.

His leg nearly fell off. It was a terrible injury and it wouldn't surprise me if it's a 2 year recovery time. Bradford has a 2 year contract, and the Eagles are paying $11M of the $18M he's owed.

I think the Vikings deserve to be praised for showing their players that the FO will make necessary additions to keep the team on track. Bradford, imo, has shown improvement the past couple of years. Prior to that, i wasn't sure if he had the mental or physical makeup to be a consistently good QB. With Norv Turner in his ear now---it's make or break time for him.

Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered an unusual and fairly horrifying injury in a non-contact drill this week — a dislocated left knee. The team announced he suffered a complete ACL tear, too, but no nerve or artery damage, which is the key to its expectation he’ll make a full recovery.

Try to come up with a pro football player who has never had an injury, and you’ll be thinking about it for a while. Knee injuries in general, and ACL tears in particular, are regular occurrences. Knee dislocations are, thankfully, fairly uncommon, because there are plenty of ligaments to hold the knee in place and it takes a lot of force to knock your upper leg off the lower one. It’s one of the few injuries that can make an ER doc do a double take. Bridgewater's injury was rumored to have had his teammates vomiting at the sight.

So Eagles sort of replaced their traded 1st by renting Bradford for the off and preseason. I can see Vikings and Rams finishing in the same draft tier this season and they get a 4th.

A 1st for Bradford????????????????? Philly GM is at the bar right buying everyone in the house a drink. He just secured his job for the foreseeable future.

Howie Rosemen (sp) has done a remarkable job since regaining power and his position. I swear he is a Jedi and convinces other GM's that "these aren't the Droids you are looking for".

The only negative is that the message to the players on the Eagles is that we have given up on this season. Pederson needs to spin this with his players so they believe they have a chance this season.

A couple thoughts...

1-Vikings had to make a move as this is the last year they can ride AP. They have a really good roster, are opening a new stadium, and can't afford to throw away a season.

2-In terms of mortgaging their future, please. The Redskins gave up 3 first round picks and made the payoffs twice in 4 years. Vikings have a good roster, and can afford to give up a pick or two.

3-If Wentz costs 2 firsts, and Alex smith is two 2nds, why is a 1sy and 4th too much for Bradford? Seems like it was market price.

4-Bradford is better than shaun Hill. those who haven't watched Hill recently would not recognize him from the player he was the last time he started football games. I don't know how much the upgrade is, but there definitely is one.

It's a bit like highway robbery but Minnesota had little choice. They have a very good team with an aging but still dominant running back. They can't afford to waste his last few relevant years. So, right move for the Vikings and a great deal for Philadelphia.

Depending on how this all shakes out this really could be a boon to Philly as the 4th round pick is conditional and could go as high as the 2nd round. Can you imagine Bradford being traded for a 1st and 2nd round pick?

Well, look at their team. Their QB, no matter who is was going to be is suspect, they have little in the running game, no deep threat WR's, no possession WR's, their offensive line is questionable considering Lane Johnson is staring at a 10 game suspension, their secondary is mediocre at best. The only thing they have that is any good is their defensive line and special teams. That and a cup of coffee might bet you 5 wins. On the plus side, I was going to sell my Eagles Vikings tickets after Bridgewater went down but now that Bradford is a Viking, this might be an entertaining game after all.
