Vikings | Will try to trade Harvin

Mike Max of CBS Minnesota reports that the Vikings will indeed attempt to trade Percy Harvin this offseason.

Citing "sources," Max reports that Harvin unleashed an "embarrassing" tirade on coach Leslie Frazier during the season, and the episode not only alienated coaches but Harvin's teammates, as well. The sides now appear headed for divorce, even if the Vikings deny it vehemently so as to avoid losing trade leverage. Harvin had a similar incident with ex-Vikings coach Brad Childress. Although acquiring a first-rounder for Harvin may prove too difficult, Minnesota figures to ask for at least a second-rounder and some change.

I don't think we need to touch our receiving core. I think all we need is to get our receivers A. a QB B. an o-line that can protect that QB

(I mis-read the original,post and had this image of Harvin locked in chains until the 4th quarter when they'd trot him out onto the field on a leash, unlock him, let him score a couple of TD's and lock him up again and take him back to the locker room).

But when it comes to practice he's like Allen Iverson: "Practice? We talkin' bout practice?"

Seems he's always nursing a migraine or some injury.

He does play hurt. The games interest him.

He's in the last year of his deal...a bargain at $2.9M this year.

But I think BA believes Andre Roberts will be just as dynamic in his offense as Harvin would. So, I can't see the Cardinals making a move there.

Plus---what part of ripping his OC and his HC a new ******* should he ever get a reprieve for?

He will because of his talent.

But it might not be very pretty at his next stop either.

And he's coming off a very mediocre year.

The two combos are different - Fitz is the constant, but Q is big and physical with velcro hands. Harvin is a burner with quicks and great COD.

Harvin would be nice (in a playmaking role, but may not be worth the extra cost or team chemistry issues.

Floyd adds Boldin-like physicality. Roberts is kind of like Harvin-Lite only without the baggage.

I'd rather go with Roberts and trade off a little bit of Harvin's explosiveness for the added cost and potential aggravation he'd bring with him.

Harvin has played a total of 54 of his possible 64 regular season games, and 7 of them were missed this season.......a season where he caught 62 passes. He's a stud and if we can get him for a 2nd, I say go for it. Then, if need be, sell high on Andre Roberts.

Harvin is theoretically every bit worth a first-rounder -- perhaps even a top-ten pick -- but the facts that he's entering a contract year, and comes with character and injury red flags will inevitably impact his trade value. We suspect GM Rick Spielman would happily accept a second- and fourth-round pick as compensation, but the bidding could grow fierce for such a dynamic talent. NFL trades can be executed beginning March 12, the first day of free agency.

Cards have many needs on offense before going after a wr that wants a big contract and will costs us draft picks. pass.

At Roberts Price and that we are talking about a number 3 WR for the team yes I am. Harvin wants money and to be a teams number one.

Roberts stats this year.
Receptions 64, Targets 133, yards 759, yards per catch 11.9, longest catch 46 yards, TD 5, First Down catches 40.

Larry Stats this year.
Receptions 71, Targets 153, yards 798, yards per catch 11.2, longest catch 37 yards, TD 4, First Down catches 44.

If Arizona had a half decent QB Roberts goes over a 1000 yards this year and most likely 10 TD . Roberts is a good WR and no reason to replace him.

If we had a decent QB, Fitz would have had those yards, not Andre.......and a 2nd, consistent threat would make Fitz even better. I haven't seen it yet out of Andre Roberts to warrant him being a legit #2. If he were our #3, that would be deadly.

Thats a relief, for a second I thought we were discussing giving up a very valuable draft pick, and a monster contract extension to take a huge risk on a cancerous, injury prone player at a position that isnt a need. That would just be silly.

Because its way too much to give up for a player who needs a new contract, has a really bad reputation in the locker-room, has some real injury concerns and plays at a position we dont need more help at.

Spending a 2nd round pick (and chewing up a healthy chunk of cap space) on a receiver when our o-line stinks and we have the worst QB situation in the entire league would be an indescribably foolish move.

I dont think a 2nd for Percy Harvin is even slightly discounted. And given his current contract situation its a gross overpayment.

Roberts = Harvin Lite.

Not as explosive as Harvin but can run the ball on jet-sweeps/flanker-arounds and is faster than you'd think and can fill the #3 WR role as a quick, mobile slot guy.
