Vince Young = Kordell Stewart

great talent, dumber than a rock

Stewart is only 6'1 and 217lbs Vince is considerably larger at 6'5" and 230lbs and just as, if not more, athletic. Young is as big as the prototype pocket passers with the mobility of the lighter "mobil" QB's. Will be interesting to see how that combo works out.

There arent many people in the NFL that were more athletic than Stewart. Problem is he was dumb as a rock.

Isn't that what they said about Terry Bradshaw? Must have been a Steeler thing. Is Big Ben smart?

Yup thats what they said. Problem is it was true with Stewart. It may just be true about Young/ It may not be. But Im not willing to take that chance. I hope we dont touch the guy. Bigger chance for flop IMO than superstar.

HAHAHA Thats assuming he can learn that playbook. Thats assuming he can adjust to the timing and footwork of taking the ball from under center, Thats assuming he can get it to those WR's in the NFL against NFL talent and so on and so on......

And assuming we can somehow get two top 10 picks to select Vernon Davis and Vince Young.

Anyone remember Randall Cunningham playing? How he looked in the pocket, the type of ball he threw (like a dart), and how he would "gallop" into the endzone?

It's never fair to compare college players to pro players but the styles are very similar, IMO.

Anyone who thinks Young isn't worth picking up is nuts. All these poor West Coast fans are still upset that UT through a major effort by Young BEAT USC for the national championship. Young is a better version of Cunningham, that's what Gil Brandt thinks and the guy is good at looking at talent. His combine score didn't show crap about his football knowledge and if you think that then one needs to look at Marinos WL score. Enough already, Lienart and Young will bout be great QBs, Cutler is the combine favorite who has bust written all over him.

Major differences between Vince Young and Randall Cunningham:

1. Cunningham had a big slow release windup. Young is a wrist flicker & gets the ball off a lot faster.

2. Cunningham came out of a smaller football environment at UNLV and needed considerable polishing to acclimate himself to the NFL. Young took a very advanced Longhorn football program all the way to a national championship and, while a long way from being a finished product, is a lot further along than Cunningham was.

I'd take Kordell Stewart in his prime over any of the athletic QB's.

Kordell was such a threat with his passing/running abilities is wasn't even funny. I think is what also played a large part were plays the Steelers setup for Kordell too.

If Young is there at #10 he will be a cardinal, not sure why people even debate it. Graves as much already said if he were there thats the pick. Since we got James absolutely not taking a RB of any sort, if Vince is there he is a cardinal.

I mean, I don't really like the idea gambling with our 1st round pick on a shorthorn. But he progressed in his college career. For goodness sake, his 2005 QB rating was like 155 or something.

It would be an exciting pick. Electric in fact. Don't tell me Young doesn't have enough upside to warrent going at #10.

What was all the crap people were talking about Rothliesburger? small school, bad competition, funky offense, blah blah blah.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

The only problem is he doesnt walk or talk like a duck. He walks and talks more like a sparrow.

Most teams probably would like their QB to at least be able to spell duck.

Considering that he was on Athletics Academic Honor Roll for UT - maybe he could tutor some of the 'geniuses' on ASFN?

Considering the way many major universities coddle their student athletes through college and make it as easy as possible on them. It would be hard to see any relevance to his "academic honor roll" especially in light of him doing extremely poorly in his interviews with NFL team as far as knowledge and terminology goes. Throw in his Wonderlich and it makes you go Hmmm..

Thats all well and good because Big Ben is a SB QB and successful. But none af that means Vince Young will be. Vince Young has way to many warts for my liking.

Universitys coddling struggling students is one thing, making the athletic honor roll is another thing completly. You have to have a certain level of academic success to end up on an honor roll - even if it is 'just' an athletic honor roll.

I will gladly take a Universitys qualifications as an indication of 'intelligence' than a Wonderlic test at the NFL combine.
