It's a new season of boys golf in Lenawee County and the top honor is up for grabs after last year's county Golfer of the Year, Adrian's Carson Ritz, graduated.
Here's a look at the headlines going into the new season:
With Ritz graduating, a pair of seniors are looking to take the top spot for the first time.
Adrian's Cayden Staib had a strong summer and is poised to take the Maples' top spot. Tecumseh senior Grant Simpson was right on Ritz's heels last year, and playing alongside Ritz and Simpson last year at the county meet was Madison junior Lucas Dopp.
Also returning from last season's All-County honors is second-teamer Colin McDowell of Tecumseh and 11 honorable mention selections: Addison sophomore Lucas Schwartz, Blissfield seniors Matthew Wolfe and Matthew Earley, Clinton junior Robert McDonald and sophomore Brandon Ruhl, Hudson senior Logan Wills and junior Terrell Williams, Lenawee Christian senior Parker Bell and junior Max Stamats, Onsted junior Jayden Valasek and Sand Creek senior Jonathan Fisher.
Adrian ended Tecumseh's four-year run as county champion last season and will be looking to start a run of its own. The Maples return Staib, along with junior Harrison Boyd and sophomore Cooper Howard.
In the regional last season, it was Tecumseh beating out Adrian for the final state spot. Simpson, who won the regional, and McDowell are back along with junior Jacob Barrie.
Madison and Onsted return big groups from last season.
The Trojans have Dopp as their No. 1, but junior Cameron Mahony, senior Alex Gonzales and junior Mathias Dalton are all expected back.
The Wildcats have junior Valasek, who went from JV to, at times, Onsted's No. 1 golfer last season. Along with Valasek is a group of seniors in Collin Gerken, Robbie Six and Daniel Puckett.
Addison and Sand Creek each had the minimum number of players at four, but all are expected back for both the Panthers and Aggies. Hudson just missed out on the Division 4 state meet and returns four of its five golfers from last season.
