In the Cardinals podcast they said that over the last 6-7 years the number had been between four and seven with an average of 5.Source on the bolded?
I actually don't think there's that much difference; most of the time you're just churning the roster and replacing someone you know is bad with someone who might not be quite as bad. If you're looking to plug roster holes in September because they guys you've coached up for two months aren't worth investing in for another moment? That's bad.
I doubt the bold gets cut. Here are some potential cuts that I think the Cardinals might snag if they are on the waiver wire:
Keion Crossen CB, Patriots
Daylon Mack NT, Ravens
Anthony Zettel DE, Browns
Ryan Bee DT, Redskins
Deadrin Senat NT, Falcons
Ifeadi Odenigbo DT, Vikings
Tre’Quan Smith WR, Saints
I could see a world where the Cards want a better blocking option at TE than what they have seen from Williams, Clay and RSJ.

As for Senat he too would be a somewhat surprising cut. The reason I listed him was due to the depth that the Falcons currently have on the DL. It appears that Deadrin Senat and Ra’Shede Hageman are currently competing for that last spot on the DL.
