First off, you are talking about 3 of the superior O-linemen in the NFL, so get real. Comparing Wakefield to Pace, Ogden, & Jones...... ummmm?

Just for the record the average height of all starting OT's in the AFC(didnt feel like looking up the NFC to, but it is probably the same) is 6 feet 5 1/2 inches tall.

Sorry your reasoning seems to be more flawed to me. You said he seemed a little tall. So Joeshmo responded that many of the best offensive linemen are tall and gave some examples of good ones. Most good Olinemen are taller that Dlinemen. Your statements seem much more off the wall then his... and I think almost everybody on this message board would agree with me on this...

His height, without considerable weight gain is what I was talking about. If you're tall and undersized at OT, you will be pushed around like a rag doll. That was my point.

And if any here thinks that Fred Wakefield being moved to OT is like comparing apples to apples with the likes of Ogden, Jones, or Pace needs to put down the fricking glass d*ck and open their eyes.

Sorry that I don't write 4 pages of babble when I respond to a thread. Use your imagination once in a while to read into someone's comments.

Have a nice day.

I agree. ds512az your really confusing. You say he is too tall, so there are provided measurments of other good lineman that are tall. Then you say its a joke to put Wakefield in that catagory??? It's not like he said "Wakefield is the next dominating tackle" or anything he just stated that there are tall tackles that have been very good. Also I wouldnt say 290 lbs. is "lanky" by any means. Maybe not huge, or big enough to be a tackle, but not lanky thats for sure.

When was the last time you stood next to him?

John Goodman was a good lineman.....but I think it was defense - he might of played both ways...Of course...it was in a movie that came out in the late 1980's....I forgot the name...Dennis Quaid, Jessica Lange..Quaid was the 1950's football star at LSU....damn..forgot the name of the movie..anyway..john goodman did play a lineman!!

that movie is called "Everybody's All-American".

This move does not beat, the all time greatest move of all Wendall Gaines from DT to TE, Buddy Ryan is the man

Roy Green worked out pretty well too :)

I swear someone on this board was suggesting this last year or even earlier than that because of how long his arms were.

Wakefield

It must of been in the Cards/Browns game (game... meaning no contest) with Dwight Clark as the commentator that he mentioned the Browns were very interested in Wakefield when he came out of college, but as an OT. I guess it was one of the reasons he signed with the Cards, so he could play D-line.

Maybe Green isn't coming out of left field with this after all.
