Drew Brees would have to miss some games IMO. Portis is also having an amazing year.

Just switch the name "Kurt Warner" and insert "Brett Favre" and you have the same story that will be posted on ESPN in 2 days

I think Fitz could make a strong MVP push this year as well. We are watching his "breakout" year if that's even possible and he is one of the most exciting player to watch.....

The last time a wide receiver won the MVP award (the AP one that's the main award) was... never. Seriously. There's only three non QBs or RBs that have ever won, and none since 1986. Fitz would have to go utterly unconscious, plus have half his receptions come from Leinart, to have much of a shot.

If Randy Moss didn't win it with his numbers last year, it's going to be long time before any WR does it.

I thought Warner was having a pro bowl year down the stretch last year but he made some mistakes down the stretch that cleared that thought from my mind.

If he can consistently get the protection he's getting right now and our receiving corp keeps playing at their phenomenally high level, yeah he's got a great chance.

But I'd rather he win the super bowl :D

I'm shocked that nobody else has pointed out that Whis is currently #5 on their list for Coach of the Year.

I tried to "vote" for Whiz' on NFL.com for...

"coach of the week" BUT he wasn't a choice. The BIGGEST reason I think he deserves it is he kept the team focused after we got blatantly screwed by the officials. That says ALOT about his leadership and the "we're going to WIN no matter what you throw at us"-attitude of this team. GO CARDS!!

Warner will win the MVP if the following happens.

1) We get into the playoffs and win a couple playoff games or even go the super bowl and win that.

2) As long as KW doen't commit 6 turnovers per game.

3) KW doesn't get injured

Man watching that replay on NFLN last night, Kurt was phenominal down the stretch. The protection was dicey at best and he took hit after hit, but the ball came out on target and the receivers made the catches.

That was an outstanding effort by Kurt and his receivers in spite of penalties and some mediocre performances by the O-line, especially Levi Brown and Lyle Sendlein. I'll give the 'Boys front seven some credit, but Levi has to improve in pass protection or he's going to get Kurt killed IMO.

The better Kurt plays, the more confident I am that Matt will be very good when he finally takes over. Kurt barely beat him out for the job this year and has thusfar been a top 5 guy.

If the Saints make the playoffs It has to be Drew Brees. Dude has been playing lights out for like three years straight. That guy doesnt get nearly enough attention. I think he is the best QB in the league right now.

Saints would be about 5-1 were it not for Grammatica

Can you really face your team, and tell them there no better kicker to be had than Grammatica?

They did "IR" him and signed some other guy...it's just a shame that he had to lose them 2 games first by failing in the clutch. And it's not like those FGs were ridiculously long, either. They were low 40-range, I think...not a gimme, but they need to be made to win a game.

It's way too early for this. I detest MVP awards in team games anyway, particularly in American football where so many things must work in unsison for success.

Football is the ultimate team game. A ballet of brutality. That's why we love it so much.

Yes it is but the only way Warner can get enough publicity is if he takes the cards deep into the playoffs. If we finish with an 8-8 record and lose the 1st playoff game is just no good enough. Other players will be more MVP if they take their team farther than KW takes ours.

Again, the MVP is announced before the playoffs even start. Publicity from a playoff run means nothing when it hasn't happened yet.

Yup...any playoff appearance or performance won't matter. He needs to be "Lights Out" in the regular season...if the Cards get 12 wins, that may do it for him.

The biggest thing going for(and against) Warner possibly winning it is that he's on the Cardinals. It can work against him because the Cardinals aren't too highly revered or noticed by the media but it can work for him if they do take notice because his numbers may be magnified somewhat for accomplishing them for the Cardinals.

That argument works just as well for Brees though and he has far less of a defense and has been without more of his weapons thus far.
