You're the Nebraska fan who watches all the Husker games. What chance do you think Crouch has of making it as an NFL QB? It sounds like after the first day of minicamp, they are impressed with his arm. My guess is if he can be a punt returner, they'll keep him on the roster as a 4th QB to get a chance to learn the offense this season while still contributing as a punt returner which they need. I read somewhere that Crouch has 4.47 speed in the 40. He's a tad on the short side though. I've only seen him play a few times, and he didn't seem to accurate with his throws when I watched him play. Maybe they can work on some mechanics to improve his accuracy.

Crouch throws a screen pass to fellow Husker Ahman Green who takes it to the house! Go Big Red!

Below were some comments on Crouch's first day at minicamp.

First-year quarterback Eric Crouch impressed Green Bay coach Mike Sherman on Wednesday. Sherman thought Crouch's technique was much further ahead than Sherman was expecting. The 24-year-old Nebraska kid also has an arm.

"You mean the cannon?" said Packer tight end Tyrone Davis. "Everything he throws is fast, whether it be 2 yards or 20 yards."

He does throw hard. I don't seem to remember him having much of and arm for the deep routes.

He does have 4.4 speed and he is very elusive. I would venture to say he makes the team and really surprises some people. When he is in the open field he is VERY dangerous.

I agree with all this. He is hard to deal with defensively when he has the ball. Passing was never really his forte, but he's good enough to get on the field definately and certainly isn't as horrible as people make him out to be (could use some more touch though, definately).

I would work it like this. He wants to be a QB. Fine.
My second or third string QB would then be returning punts, kickoffs, lining up in the slot as a wingback both tight and wide, in the backfield with Green for direct snaps or just about anything, at wideout, at QB on say 3rd and 2 and at the goal line... You get the picture.
Put the ball in his hands about a fifteen times a game. 240 touches over a season? He'll get you a dozen TD's.

Running up the score and rushing for 4 TD's agains Southeastern Mississippi School for the Blind(or whatever other pansy school that fills Nebraska's schedules year in and year out) does not equate to NFL talent. You can't run the option in the NFL and Crouch is about as accurate as the Iraqi information minister. He is fast, his only hope is to play safety or reciever.

Who said anything about running the option? I'm talking about getting him the ball. Antwan Randle El sure has had a hard time adjusting to NFL defenses...

He accounted for 88 TD's in four seasons. Had a career 124.85 passer rating.

Southeastern Mississippi School for the Blind, Pac 10, Big IIX, SEC, ACC... No matter.

Well, we ALL know that winning the Heismann will automatically make you a great NFL player! There has been a great history of Heismann winners doing well in the NFL.

But in reality, that's just as rediculous as bias against Penn State running backs, or Florida receivers, etc...

Grossman was jobbed.....Crouch was not the better player and the NFL seems to agree with that.

"We were mentally and physically preparing ourselves for an all-out, gladiator-type war."

Nah, we don't need anyone with that mentality.

I brought up the list because of all the talent on it.
You started it by referencing his college competition, running the option in the NFL, even wondered who NU's QB's were in the last 15 years.
All very interesting points to back up your argument.

You could extend that argument to Terrell Suggs for his entire career, no?

Actually I know all of Nebraskas QB's over the last 15 years, I was trying to prove a point to you.......Nebraska doesn't produce very good offensive talent.

Crouch was a great competitor, but he is NOT a good QB, he wasn't a good college QB, he most definately won't be a good NFL QB.

The strange thing, he was such a competitor at NU, but when he got the NFL he was a whiny little bitch that ran away when things didn't go his way. Sorry, but I don't want someone like THAT on my team.

Show me ONE instance where he whined about anything. Ever. Find me a quote or something. It should be easy.
