ESPN quotes Green saying it's a medial collateral injury and he's out for the year likely. Doesn't say tear, says injury.

Not really. Looking at this week's posts the season ended on ASFN with the loss to the Redskins. All FA and draft talk. Casual observer wouldn't have even known who our opponent was today.

May be interesting if a debate gets going as to who should start, McCown or Navarre.

They haven't done an MRI yet. But, they must feel it's a tear.

Two questions remain:

1. Has Warner played his last game in a Cardinal uniform?

2. Who gets the start next week?

Hopefully Josh. I know it would be good for Navarre since JM isn't coming back but Navarre is painful. Our OL was absolutely horrible but Navarre makes Warner look like Vick (speed wise). He holds onto the ball way to long which I guess is expected from a 3rd stringer. How bad was the O-Line today..... Thats one of the worst performances I have ever seen

This was all Oliver Ross' fault correct? One more reason to dump his ass. Not that we have anything to play for... but still...

Hopefully its just a sprain. Theres only 1 game left and with nothing on the line their prob just going to rest him. He would prob be out 1-2 games anyways with a sprain so the "season ending" label may mean just that- 1 to 2 games.

True. Hopefully it is a sprain. He was stading on it the entire second half, so it can't be that catastrophic.

1. No. He's got one year left in him. Enough so that we can get a prospect in to watch from the sidelines for a year while warner does his thing.

2. Who cares? Josh is not the answer. Narvarre's not awful, and he's got pretty good arm. But he's possibly less mobile than Warner, and he's going to have to do a lot on Sun against the iggles to generate a QB controversy in 06'.

look at the bright side, now losses to Philly and Indy's backups will be that much more likely increasing the draft position to the top 5.

That was going to be my next point- He was standing on the sideline the whole 2nd half. If he tore it or they highly thought he did, he would be getting x-rayed and would be in the locker room for the remainder of the game.

There is no future for McCown here, so why not start Navarre. I know he is a statue but no other options. At least he will have some experience as the 3rd string QB.

Navarre should start. He needs to get all the reps in practice and we need to see if he is worth keeping. Josh will be gone.

I am not sure why you say that...he hasnt played all year, you wouldnt be interested in giving him a shot to see if he can rally the offense?

I dont know if he will be good or not, but he hasnt played in over a year so maybe he made strides. He did have one nice drive today.

If we do not plan on keeping McCown it should be Navarre. If they play McCown then clearly they are considering keeping him. If they do not play Navarre he is probably history.

Warner out for the season

Let Navarre finish the season for the experience and to see what he's got.

Cardinals QB Warner injures knee

NFL.com wire reports

HOUSTON (Dec. 18, 2005) -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is likely out for the rest of the season after injuring his knee in a 30-19 loss to the Houston Texans.

The Cardinals were left with third-string quarterback John Navarre against Houston after Warner was injured and backup Josh McCown left the game with flulike symptoms.

Warner threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin early in the second quarter and walked off the field. He was sacked twice on Arizona's first series, and Arizona coach Dennis Green said Warner injured the medial collateral ligament in his right knee on one of those sacks.

He sat on the bench with ice on his right knee and was replaced by McCown on the next series.

Navarre entered the game on Arizona's first series of the second half and finished the game. It was the first action of the year for Navarre, a second-year player, who started one game last season. He was 14 of 24 for 174 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

McCown was ill before the game and received intravenous fluids. At halftime, he told Green that he couldn't return.
