Markieff's last incident didn't bother me as much as some. The reason, I think he was trying to be responsible and take on a leadership role.

by escalating an argument into a near brawl on the bench? Leave the leadership to anyone else if that's his idea of "being responsible."

I think Goodwin should apologize to Markieff for having his throat in the way of Markieff's hand. Hornacek should also apologize to Markieff for getting in the way of his towel. The fans should apologize to Markieff for not wanting to support a substandard basketball. The guy at the rec center should apologize for pressing charges against the Morris twins.

Markieff is just a misunderstood man..........

My thoughts were Earl Watson has been talking up the leadership role for Markieff. Clearly Markieff ended up at the opposite end of the spectrum but I'm finally seeing him give some clear effort since his brother was traded. There is no doubt he handled the leader role badly.

you'd have a good point except for two things a) Tyson Chandler actually has leadership credentials and has been a leader and b) oddly enough he's NEVER almost started a brawl on the bench. Probably because... well, that's NOT what leaders do.

That's what IDIOTS do.

he and his brother freaking beat the crap out of a guy half their size. He's not just "not a great guy." He's a piece of garbage off the court AND on it.

I guess some people can look at a single incident in isolation and some can't. Not saying one is better than the other. I do know that Markieff has no hope of making a turnaround then, if all the past counts all the time.

In the clip, it was clear to me that Archie escalated the argument, not Kieff. OH, what does it matter, he is going to be gone soon anyway. Hopefully we can get end up with a roster that we can all root for together.

lol... when he keeps REPEATING idiotic moves like he's done in the past, I'm not sure where you find hope of making a turn-around.

I wonder how many people that are defending Markieff would be doing so if he was still mailing it in on the court. It seems like his turnaround under Watson has gotten a lot of people to soften their stance on him and I don't understand why. This season is a lost cause and that won't change with or without Morris here. He was probably the player most responsible for Hornacek getting fired, although I don't think Markieff was solely to blame for it. Jeff had a number of his issues with this team but Morris' attitude and play contributed more than everyone else on the roster this season. The chemistry issues the team has had for the last 2 seasons can be largely attributed to Markieff and his brother also, when he was here.

Suddenly Markieff starts putting in effort on the court and it seems all is forgiven with a lot of posters here. I think the main reason Watson planned to run the offense through Kieff was a directive from the front office to raise his trade value. Hopefully that is the case and the team doesn't plan on trying to salvage their relationship completely because he's shown this season how he'll play and contribute when he's not the centerpiece of the offense and being coddled by the coach. He's scored more in this role but he's still a poor rebounder and his shooting % is down a good bit this season. He's not the sort of player that can be built around from a skill/talent standpoint. He's an average starter at best. This incident is just another strike against his personality that shows he's not the sort of player a team should build around as the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd option and we now how much he'll contribute if he's not one of the main pieces.

Here's a comparison of his stats under Hornacek & Watson

Great post. I have no doubt that Watson is simply carrying out orders... As for Morris himself, it's beyond any logic and comprehension that on Feb 12th, he is still on this team. Truly one of the biggest mistakes/miscalculations I have seen a team make in a long, long time. Don't know if it's Sarver or McDonough, or Babby... but whoever made the choice to keep Keef when he proclaimed he didn't want to be here, and then to double-down and keep him through today (and who knows for how much longer), needs to GO!
I don't care how talented people think he is, and I don't care admirable it might be to fantasize over the potential that Keef might "turn his act around in a Suns uniform", the bottom line is that you can never, ever, build a competitive TEAM around a guy like Morris... EVER! Beyond the fact that he is truly one of the dumbest players in the league, he is also a narcissistic thug. He does not understand how to be a team player. He does not understand how to fit in... And in the sense, he is a loser...
Just so amazing that he is STILL wearing a Suns uniform...

I posted elsewhere that I think Morris playing with more effort makes him look worse. It just looks like his effort is conditional. The only way he can be trusted as a Sun is if a new coach gets him to demonstrably re-commit. But I'm not sure a new coach will be interested in that project.

Although it is way to early to tell for sure, it looks like Earl Watson has gotten Markieff to re-commit. It may not have been pretty when Markieff tried to takeover a leadership role but I saw the effort.
