So jealous. Portland has some really solid young guys on that team. The Portland/Nets trade last year that landed Lillard through the draft was one of the biggest heists in recent memory. It blows me away that Billy King was able to get that Nets GM job. His handling of the Sixers roster was on par with Isiah Thomas in sheer overspending and incompetence. Then as a lotto team he is trading away his pick for a guy who is about to be a free agent? Just unconscionably stupid.

But back on subject... Wes Mathews, Aldridge, Batum, Lillard. Nice group of players whos talents seem to mesh very well together. If they can make some upgrades to that awful bench they could make some noise this year.

Lillard was the guy I really wanted but even with the knocks on him I figured he'd be long gone by the time the Suns picked.

Both Nbadraftnet and Draftexpress had Lillard going #6 in their mocks. I think the Suns would have drafted him if he were still on the board when they picked but that was not to be.

Yeah, his stock rose as the draft approached. In earlier mocks he was falling outside the top 10.

King was able to get Deron to resign by trading for Wallace so I'm sure he's not complaining.

Kinda ironic that you are making this thread talking about how good Portland is though...their getting smoked right now.

Lillard is impressive! I never got to see him in College but he's got some talent. I also like Meyers Leonard but he'll probably take a few years to develop.

LaMarcus Aldridge is my favorite PF in the NBA, as well. I've been so into the Suns more this year (than last 2), that I've been watching other NBA games to check out potential Suns players (FA or Trade) lol. College Basketball starts tomorrow though, so I won't have as much time for NBA games outside of Phx but I've enjoyed Season thus far.

First off... he could have gotten Wallace without ever making a trade. Wallace was an unrestricted free agent, Portland certainly was not considering keeping him with Batum's looming extension, and that contract the Nets gave Wallace was... bonkers, they could have easily landed him on their own in free agency. So it was still an insanely stupid trade no matter how you slice it.

And secondly, I didnt say Portland was good, I said they have a nice group of young guys who talents blend well... however their bench is dreadful and IF they can make some upgrades to their depth they could be a plucky team.
