You're wildly undervaluing every aspect of what the Suns surrendered. Sure, the first round pick this year and maybe the first round pick in 2025 are going to be of marginal value, but Cam, Bridges, the picks in 27 and 29, the pick swap in 28... those are all going to be premium assets. Each individual part is likely to be worth more than Durant, in trade value, within 2 years... and I don't think that is even a remote exaggeration.

If we don't win a title in the interim, then it's a disaster.
And…?

You’ve complained about this trade since it started. It happened, it’s done. What else do you want to happen?

We have a new owner as well one who appears and states he is willing to spend to keep this team competitive! You act as though KD is gonna be done and so are the Suns, I would expect other players to be brought in and this team will stay competitive. Late round draft picks won’t be playing on this team for the next decade hopefully! The whole point is KD makes us a contender that this team was NOT with bridges and Cam who both pretty much disappeared in the playoffs last year, Book can’t do it alone and Paul and Ayton are good for a few games here and there but we needed a legit superstar and we got just that one of the best there is! Enjoy the ride and worry about the future later.

When I see posts stating that this trade was an obvious no brainer and anyone against it is fooling themselves then I am going to counter that notion. I'm not going out of my way to continue the debate but when I see posts that crap on the idea of the trade being questionable then I will counter it... because I think the trade was stupid.

I hope I will be proven wrong, but until then I think it was a foolish trade.

What is this forum for if not to debate this kind of stuff?

We went all in. If it doesn't yield a title then it's a freaking dumpster fire. The risk is gargantuan.... people continuously crapping on the stakes of this trade are lying to themselves.

Yes. But it seems a bit disengenuous to insult those of us that support the trade by essentially posting the same thing over and over again ad nauseum. You think we’re lying to ourselves? About what?

None of us have said Mikal Bridges isn’t a good player. I’m fact most of us have said it was a lot to give up. The difference is that we think what we got back gives us BETTER ODDS of getting a championship than if we didn’t do the trade. What are trades other than giving you a better chance for a championship?

Lying to ourselves, indeed.

So much this. After two seasons and our runs to the playoffs what we found out is that Book can be doubled with DA, with Bridges and CP3 and essentially be nullified. Nobody is scared of the Suns when Book is doubled. Nobody is scared of DA, Bridges or Paul when doubling Book. Nobody. We gave up alot to get KD. No question. It's a risk. No question. Yet we still have a better shot with a healthy KD. That should tell you something.

I wouldn't have said "lying to yourselves" but it goes both ways. I wouldn't have accused those of us against the trade of not wanting a championship or just wanting a 50 and fade team or deluding ourselves if we thought the old group could have been improved to contender status or any of the other comments made to bring down the posters rather than the arguments.

And I wouldn't have once again posted about us beating a dead horse while ignoring the FACT that there are two sides to this argument. Especially when the other side continues to post their opinions freely without suggesting anyone on the pro-side should also be muzzled on this topic - a topic that could very well be the single most important decision this franchise has ever made.

Most of us have moved on from the trade and accepted it. There are two sides but one side can't seem to get over it which then in return those comments get responses. I think we all just need to get over it. It's done.

Not accurate. Most of the comments against the trade also come in response to pro-trade comments. Other than the rare drive-by. And there's no way we're going to just get over it. Again, it's the biggest freaking decision this organization might have ever made. Expecting us to just let it go is expecting something that just can't happen when we could be living with the consequences of this decision for a decade or so.

And here's an idea, if you find the conversation annoying, just avoid it. Why are so many posters that favor the trade still trying to muzzle the negative side of the conversation? Did we stop conversation about Sarver just because it had all been said before? Do we still talk about Ayton not being worthy of the number one pick? Of course we do, and let's face, those are done deals and there's nothing really new under the sun there either.

You started it...no they started it. MEH. You comment, you are likely to get a response. It's not going to change. There is no DeLorean. It's done. We still talk about Ayton because we watch him play for this team. I don't see much talk about Sarver now that he is gone. Kevin is on our team. Yes, you can do what you want but I am just saying I wish we could all focus a bit more on what is in front of us verses behind us.

Of course. That's my point, and it has gone both ways. But all the "you guys should shut up about it" is coming from just one direction. I agree it's done and there's nothing to be done about it and trust me, I opt to not respond far more often than not. But it's difficult to stay silent every time when so often I read comments that IMO oversimplify the situation or misstate our objections or miscolor the consequences. Again, from my perspective.

It's not for me. I am saying both ways. We all just need to move on. I am 100% guilty of responding as well to the bad trade crowd but I disagree that it's the other side always instigating.

It is funny we haven’t even LOST ONE GAME with durant and people are still complaining. Of course we all loved Bridges and Cam, and Bridges is already a star in his own right. But Durant not only raised our ceiling he also importantly raised our floor as well. No more getting beat by 30 which was unfortunately routine for our suns starting with the mavs collapse in the playoffs.

Obviously this will all be decided in the future but my opinion is there was a funk with this team and we were too one dimensional and something had to happen to mix it up. And if “something happening” is getting DURANT then that’s pretty damn good. Let’s win this thing.

Why does the pro-trade crowd continue to post in a thread about watching Cam and Mikal post Suns career if they're tired of discussing it? I don't see them getting tagged.
I am pro-trade but love Mikal that's why. I want to see him succeed and love what he is doing. You are acting like you can't be both. It was the right move for the Suns to maximize our chances but he is still one of my favorite players.

Why can't you admire what he is doing and still be pro-trade? It's not like loving Mikal requires you hate the trade and constantly remind people it was a bad trade in your opinion.

Because you anti-trade people continue to use the "See? Having Mikal would be better than having Durant." argument. And we still like Mikal and Cam.

That's what you anti-trade people don't understand. Your accusations are tiring and completely baseless most of the time.

So no one is allowed to have an opinion other than yours? I thought you said Steve was the board police?

That's all fine but don't complain then if someone wishes we hadn't traded Mikal. I'm tired of repeating myself too so I've just let some things slide. We've been over it, nothing new will be said. If someone wants to continue to pine for Mikal, let them. I don't respond to the gloating of how smart the trade was when Durant actually suits up because eventually those who are doing it will stop if they quit getting reactions.

We have lost a good amount since the trade because Durant hasn't played in every game since the trade, or even half. That's part of why the anti-trade crowd was against the deal, his health is an issue. Yes we've won when he's played but again, he hasn't played much.

Our floor is much lower now because we don't have as much depth and we lost our iron man who could be depended on nightly. We have been blown out and suffered some ugly losses this idea our floor is higher don't hold up. Yes, we're better with Durant right now but Durant is 34 years old and is available to play about as much as Anthony "Street Clothes" Davis. So when people talk like you just did about how much better we are, that will be refuted until KD proves he can stay healthy.

Find me one post where people are complaining about Durant.

I love watching KD play. I'm glad we traded for him, I think he increases our chances of winning it all this season and maybe next. But I still believe we grossly overpaid. Given his age and injury risk, it makes no sense to me that we couldn't have protected our last couple of picks. Those last two picks have only minimal value prior to the trade, at which point their projected value should have skyrocketed. IMO our unprotected picks alone would then have had more value than they were likely to get from the other teams looking for Durant.

That's a two way street. I see people repeatedly respond to discussions about KD the other way repeatedly even when not talking about the trade itself. Again, this beckons to you started it....no you did type conversations. If not, it's hey Mikal had a great game..........then followed by the trade was so bad.

I won't speak for anyone else on this but I don't believe I've made a single comment to this effect. And for every "accusation" you can find against the pro-trade folks, I'm quite sure you can find multiples that go the other way.

We traded two months of IN N Out meals for a high-end steak dinner. I like IN N OUT and I like the practicality of being set for two months. But the trade is made now, and I am going to really enjoy this steak.

And it sucks, I get it. I want it to end too but I can only hold myself responsible. I'm trying to keep any discussion of the deal here in this thread so long as I'm involved.
