Good, hard-fought game - and even if we had lost, we finally looked like we were starting to play our game. Some better hitting, and look at Lyle! Way to bust a slump, kid! Keep doing what you did there, it was pretty. If that was a BB hunch, I'm impressed.

Diamondbacks WIN!!

A huge relief!!

Mainly ... though hearing only on the radio it sounded like real baseball again... I was getting tired of the Keystone Cops re-runs.

I thought perhaps we got the Detroit Tigers for a week in some weird parallel-universe screw-up. Phew. Glad I woke up from THAT bad dream!

you're telling me. dang, that game made me happy. overbay's getting there...now, if only the pitching would come around. by the way, though dessens is nowhere remotely close to dominating, he does give us some consistency. he doesn't get blown apart, for one thing, not like helling. though he'd be disappointing (considering what we gave up for him, and all the hype from brenly), i'd take him now simply because he gives us a chance to win. at least that's what he's shown so far. the guy's quality, as far as i can tell. i guess i was just really disappointed with him at first, but i like him now.

I'm somewhat disappointed with Dessens

Based on Spring training I thought he'd start stronger. He might be a warm weather pitcher so I'll wait and see. He was Cincinnati's #1 or #2 guy so I expected more.

I don't think anyone should ever base an expectation on a player Spring Training performance. Spring training is way to variable to get a feel for how a player will perform in the regular season. 1/2 the time you aren't even facing major league caliber competition.

Dessens has come pretty close to meeting my expectations of him. His component numbers are well withen his career numbers considering the small sample size. Well his HRs are way up but I think that was bound to come with the park adjustment from Cinergy to BOB.

Code:
Dessens	K/9IP	K:BB	HR/9IP	GB:FB
2002	4.70	1.90 1.21	1.48
2003	4.91	3.00 3.27	1.45
