if he were reading my remarks, this would be his response:

You can't handle the truth!

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by overpriced eurpean big men. Who's gonna do it? You? You, playstation? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for tmac, and you curse the suns. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that tmac's loss, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about in message boards, you want me on that wall -- you need me on that wall.

We use words like "okur," "nash," "barry." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very team that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it!

I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a basketball and stand in the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're ENTITLED to!

LOL, that was fun :)

seriously though, it would be nice to know what the colangeli are thinking, because i have a sneaking suspicion that their brain activity and the brain activity of one Homer Simpson are quite similar

"The truth. You can't handle the truth". Jack Nicholson (no it wasn't taking about Kobe and Shaq  )

The truth is that winning the NBA championship requires luck. Brains are nice. Hard work is essential. Skill is crucial. But without luck, none of it matters.

In 1984 Chicago gets Michael Jordan because Portland took a big man. Would Chicago have passed on a top center to get Michael if they had the #2 pick?

BTW, in the same Draft Houston gets the rights to Hakeem after getting Sampson the prior year.

San Antonio has one of the best records in the NBA over the last 25 years, yet they tank in years right before francise big men come out AND get the pick the wanted.

The Lakers use their money and star power to get Shaq to come over from Orlando. This makes their current center, Divac expendible so he traded for HS player named Kobe Bryant.

In a year when Atlanta wants to dump ALL of its salaries, it obtains and then trades away Sheed Wallace to the Pistons who are the only team with almost enough expiring contracts. But the Boston Celtics want one of their players, so they get one more expiring contract and are able to get the final piece to winning the championship.

Luck. Not great skill or brilliant trades. Luck, poor dumb stupid luck is what has made the difference. Anybody with brains and money can put together a playoff team. But to win it all takes luck.

So we can rag on the Colangelos all we want about all the gambles they should have taken ("let's trade half our team for T-Mac and hope we can find replacements"), but the hard part is dealing with their luck or lack of it.

Maybe they are best off not making big gambles. They aren't exceptionally lucky.

That wasn't luck :( I can't believe the league just let them do it too!!! That wasn't fair at all. Their players could have played more...

Luck is indeed part of the package. But ahead of intelligence, hard work, and skill? Not a chance.

Luck is passive -- hoping that good things happen. Skill is active -- making goods things happen.

People with intelligence, hard work, and skill (whether players or management) make their own luck.

I'd never put good planning, good execution, and good communications behind good luck. Would you?

The Suns have NEVER been the recepients of good luck, so we have no choice but to rely on those values you cherish, BC.
