Seriously. Some of you seem to think this team can suddenly become Spurs like. There may not be a Duncan or Shaq for many years so quit dreaming. He's what makes their team and scheme work. They can funnel guards down to him and he just blocks the shot. That way Bowen can stick to people like glue at the top of the key knowing Duncan has his back.

Without Duncan the Spurs would be an average, to slightly above average team.

The Suns need better players for what we do. We've got a great nucleus. We need to let Diaw go for sure. Don't get guys like Rose if he aint gonna play. But we need a Ray Allen at the 2. That's our biggest weakness. It's hard to believe a team that prides itself on scoring doesnt have a great scoring 2. Not sure what Barbosa is.

Exactly! Thank you!

We need a BIG TIME shooter 2 guard. Bell and Barbosa are too inconsistent. We need automatic offense from parameter.

Sadly, Phoenix had one but JJ decided to take his ball and go home.

Boy, this weird new trend of Spurs trolls pretending to be Suns fans is getting quite annoying. My Ignore list is getting a workout.

Matt Barnes has a little of that bad boy in him to that would help us against the spurs wink wink also his tattoos will make us look more like a "thug" team....after all isnt that what the nba is going for these days?

Also.. In the playoffs it's not just about big men who can score. It's about having guys who can score in one-on-one situations consistantly.

We've got to go after a great 2 guard, giving him the oppertunity to play with Steven and Amare. Use our bench more. With a true 2 guard, we would not have to use pick and roll all the time. Then there's marion. Now we all love the things Marion can do, it's the things he can't do. He's too inconsistant on offense. I wish we could get a better scorer at the small forward position as well.

Bell, Marion are nice defensively and on rebounds. They can have good nights shooting. But their a liability if guarded close. I'd love to see this.

C - Kurt Thomas
PF - Amare Stoudemire
SF - Shawn Marion - Or someone else. Glenn Rice type.
SG - Ray Allen (Or a great scorer like him)
PG - Steve Nash

With that kinda lineup we would not need to run to score. We would not have to rely on Nash and Stat all the time.

Did we trade Raja Bell for Ray Allen? I'm all for that. :p
If anything we could revisit that Marion for Rashard Lewis trade. Rashard can over anybody, but I don't think he can guard anyone.

Allen is too expensive and would not cost only Raja. Moreover our defense would become awfull with Allen instead of Raja.

I don't believe that. The defense part. Defense is only as good as you play it. I don't care who you are. If we can keep our coaching staff intact - Ivaroni and Gentry they can work on Allens defense. Or any 2 guard. I also think Barbosa is expendable because we need a true point-guard backup for Steve.

My list tripled in size in the last week. I never thought the Spurs trolls could be worse than those of the Lakers and Mavs combined. I was very wrong.

Sorry but Allen is not exactly a rookie. He doesn't give a **** about defense and will not become a All Defensive team player. To play defense you need defensive players period. Bowen, raja and a few other would never have see an NBA floor if not for their defensive skills.

Yeah they helped us so much late in the 3rd. I don't mind keeping Raja in the rotation.

Kobe Bryant isnt known for his defense. Wade isnt known for his defense. If defensive ability is our sole judgment of a 2 guards worth then we stick with guys like Bell.

Otherwise.. we may want a guy who can score there? Nah your right. We don't need a Jason Richardson.

I didn't say I don't want a scoring 2. Just that Allen would cost money and would hurt our defense.

we dont need a jason richardson, the fact that you compare jason richardson to ray allen only proves you have the basketball knowledge of an infant

I think Phoenix needs someone who can attack the basket off the dribble (similar to Ginobili and Parker). Right now the entire offense runs through Nash and he cant do it for long periods of time. Suns have to many spot up shooters that 'get' their points off of Nash's passes but once a defender goes out to them as they receive the pass they are basically ineffective. That is one of the reasons why SA was so effective agianst them.

IMO, if beating the Spurs is the primary goal what we need most is a younger version of KT - in additon to the original. Ideally it would be someone that could defend Tim better but thats not very realistic. He has to be able to knock down midrange shots so when TD goes to help on Nash or Barbs he can make the Spurs pay.

Heck, its the midrange where the Spurs are the most vulnerable given they have Duncan protecting the basket and first rate perimeter defense. It'd better be the midrange because there isn't anywhere else...

Aside from getting a younger version of Kurt, diversifying our offense would also be key. Stockton used to run a lot without the ball for catch and shoot interchangibly wiht Horny. And Malone used to set a lot of vicious backdoor screens to "punish" the defender chasing Stochton. Without ball, you can do it much more effective. Give Bowen some hard bumps, which the Suns only started to do in game 5 and 6 with JR, Raja, and Kurt, it will make Nash more effective come crunch time.

That would be great except we would take a step back defensively. Have you seen Ray Allen play defense? He gets burned...a lot. Love it from an offensive perspective but hate it from a defensive perspective. Say what you want about Bell disappearing sometimes on offense but he plays good defense. If anything we need to get better defensively.
