We just killed the draft

I've been following Card drafts since the 50's......best one I can remember......don't have any koolaid but this scotch and the chocolate stout are doin just fine.

I agree this is true with Minter. But with the drop down in the 4th, we lost out on Barrett Jones. Perhaps Watford was the target, but maybe we would have preferred Jones. He's not a great athlete, but he is versatile and decorated. I would have really like Jones at that point (but that's just me.) Given that we got Ellington by moving down, however, I will take it.

Yup. Can't remember the last time I saw this much movement from the Cards.

Nice thing is they still addressed areas of need AND filled them with potential stars. Way to go, Cardinals.

Antonio Smith

Those guys were all starting in the NFL last season, three of them have been Pro Bowl players and all key starters on our Super Bowl team. The guys selected this week have a long, long way to go to match that group.

Heck they have to step it up to match the 2011 group.

Looking at back to back drafts it would be hard to beat 1981-1982.

Tootie Robbins 10 years
Dave Galloway 8 years
Earl Ferrell 8 years and leading rusher '88 and '89
EJ Junior 8 years with the Cards an 14 years in the NFL
Neil Lomax A-1 QB
Stump Mitchell One of the Cards all-time fan favorites and 3 time leading rusher.

Worst draft ever? Probably 1984 the infamous Clyde Duncan draft. 14 selections and only one serviceable player in Niko Noga. Although Doug Dawson did ok in Houston a few years later.

And they can.......all the Danny Doomers out there will pick on everyone......even the TE has a chance.......tell me the RB's have no chance....hell they should be penciled in #1 and #2.

I'm glad Keim was not afraid to draft two quality RBs and not worry about what people might think. Needless to say RB was a huge problem last season. Plus he added Rashard Mendenhall.

That was my fear as well....well we have Mendenhall....well we have Williams.....uhhhh those 2 are hurt every year......give me Taylor.....but I;m lookin for tickets to watch Ellington...gonna surprise most of ya.

RB was only a huge problem because they were both injured. How soon we forget that the Cards averaged over 4 yards per carry in both 2010 and 2011. The first time they had been over 4 in two consecutive seasons in over 30 years. So we really weren't hurting at RB. Wells wasn't near as bad as some like to claim. He just played for a coaching staff that thought running the football was against the rules.

If you look at those late round picks in the proper framework right now they aren't replacing Williams and Mendenhall they are replacing Powell and Alfonso Smith. And that, if the scouts reports are accurate, is a definite upgrade.

that's what I've read. An upgraded LSH is what I've been hearing. I know Taylor is good. I'm excited

This! I'm pretty comfortable with going into the season with Mendenhall, Williams, Taylor, and Ellington as the RBs

Also Manti would have been a horrible pick. Look at the circus already in San Diego around this guy. He has proven that this whole event has rattled him and failed to show up twice when it mattered most.

I trust BA and SK's assessments on players over someone who still thinks Matt Leinart is an elite QB.

I believe SK said during one of the recent press conferences that you can occassionally take a risk like HB, but you just cant fill your team with high risk players.

But they were both consistently injured. That made it worse. The potential was there but it just could.never happen.

I wonder is that was part of the reason why Whiz ran so little. He knew how brittle his running backs were.

I don't think so because he was 32nd in rush attempts 4 out of his last 5 years and we didn't have the same RBs every year from 2008-2012. Edge was about as far from brittle as a RB could get.

Yeah I think he was talking about guys with injury concerns and maybe some off the field concerns, but not necessarily guys with locker room issues.
