And it will be just as big a mistake as the Cards handing him the keys to the car. He's a decent offensive coordinator (let's see if he can do it well for a whole season without being figured out), but he absolutely doesn't have the personality to be a successful head coach.

Kingsbury's come a long way since being fired from the Cardinals after a dismal 2022 season, one where he says he nearly lost his love for the game and called it quits entirely.

"All I'd done is football for a long time, and I was just like, 'Hey, I've had enough.' The last year in Arizona was just ... a lot of things we went through made it feel like it was not for me anymore," Kingsbury told ESPN's John Keim in an interview.

One source close to Kingsbury told ESPN, "It was Hard Knocks, Kyler [Murray] was hurt and pissed off. There was a ton of stuff. Injuries."

ESPN's John Keim also highlighted that Kingsbury and Murray's relationship soured towards the end of their tenure together, as Kingsbury would avoid confrontation with players in the locker room and even struggled with key figures such as owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim.

I always maintained that will be an OC for a very long time in the NFL. In my mind, he's a younger Norv Turner.

he had a great deep ball when he was throwing to Hopkins. Since Hopkins left, he has not been able to complete deep passes. In reality Hopkins was great at jump balls. Murray never was good at long passes.

Murray was amazing at deep balls his rookie year. Murray's deep ball has just gotten worse and worse ever since Tom Clements left.

And note - Quinn failed his first time as a HC, so looks like he learned lessons as well.

Quinn was a Super Bowl coach he just lost his OC so I wouldn't call him a failure.

The flip side to that though is Whiz also going to a Super Bowl who I thought was a terrible coach.

I think Kingsbury has proved he’s a solid Offensive Coordinator. He was a weak Head Coach when with the Cards. He’ll get another shot and be better next time around, but I think he needs to be in the right situation to make it work. He’s a smart guy, but that’s not enough.

Maybe but he was as much a part of the problem as a part of the solution. He got the QB he wanted.
