Plain and simple.

Either that is Logan Thomas or someone else and this is where GMs earn their money.

I am fine with Palmer as long as we realize he's getting older and we plan accordingly. We should be looking for his heir as soon as practical.

I'm not a BA hater at all but this is the difference between a GM and a HC.

BA lives in the moment as a HC and our long term planning for the good of the team is done mostly by the GM.

Big Red has been looking for that since Neil Lomax retired. Warner was never a LT answer. Palmer was never a LT solution either.

Totally agree. Keim is the General Manager and responsible for all player personnel decisions. The buck stops with him. IMO Logan Thomas is not the answer. Keim also stated when he was made GM that he believed in this Ron Wolf qb philosophy:

(Following from Jan 8, 2013 Keim Press conference)

One specific Keim did offer was an offshoot of former Packers general manager Ron Wolf – a belief in quarterback supply-and-demand, and the mindset to go out and get a QB every year because it’s so important to have one and it’s impossible to know how each will turn out on the NFL level.

Can't do enough at this position in my opinion. The Cardinals of all teams should recognize this.

Franchise QB's are found one of two ways.

- #1 sure fire pick - Manning, Luck, etc.
- Getting lucky - Brady, Warner (with Rams)

Everyone else is a crap shoot.

Let's just accept the fact that we will never have one.

arians last year said carson could play 2 or 3 year (at best i add)
stanton is just back up material and is in the the final year of his contract
thomas ,the 10 throws he made were just horrible, and the throw to ellington ,the only one he could complete was just a lucky one, passing near defenders hands
thomas is not a nfl qb,is the raw version of lindley

ok i know how important is being positive, but in those 3 matches with lindley didnt work

How many QB's drafted in the last five years are legitimate franchise QB's? Luck, Wilson after that you have to start talking about maybes like Kaepernick, Tannehill and Newton. Maybe Bridgewater and Bortles could get into that category but aren't there yet. Finding a true QBOTF is not an easy thing to do.

I don't know much about Mariota or Winston. Either worth a look?

I'm hoping our QOF is Logan Thomas. No matter what they think of him in practise, I want them to let him start sometime and see what he is like for real. Unless he is too stupid to learn the playbook, he should be given a shot. No reason to have drafted him and kept him if here is no hope. Hope he gets a fair shot in a year or 2.

Yeah we should just call 1-800-INEEDAQBOTF it's that easy and we haven't thrown a ton of the money at that position already. Our draft pick is good enough to get a QBOTF ... If we are playing on Saturn, where everybody gets a ring.

As much as I want a QBOTF myself, we aren't in much of a position to acquire one this year, unless there's the next Russell Wilson out there somewhere.

How many guys are actually franchise guys? I would count (not in order):

P. Manning
Brady
Luck
Romo
Newton
Stafford
Wilson
Brees
Rodgers
(?) Ryan

Keeping Ryan in the mix, that's only 10 teams out there I would consider as teams not looking for an upgrade, or someone better to "cement" the position. That's a third of the league at best, and Peyton, Brady, Brees, and Romo all only really have a couple of years left in them. So, that adds 4 teams that have to consider thinking about the QBOTF.

I'm okay with another year of development from Logan, since the cupboard is so damn bare.

After seeing how inaccurate he was Saturday night, I would have a hard time calling Newton a franchise QB. I would put him in the iffy category right now.

There's a good article on it written by Peter King.

It mentions Carson Palmer in there at the end.

I have no beef with Carson Palmer he's well worth the shot we are giving him but he's not securing anything and in two more years we are going to be right back where we started again.

I think the coaches think higher of Logan Thomas than we know simply because they DID NOT throw him out there to the wolves and they could have. Not sending him out there means one of two things.

He's awful or they see something him worth preserving him for.

I hope it's the latter and this is all moot as we're all going to be incredibly surprised to find out he's the guy but if he's never going to be that then we had best be constantly on the lookout for it.

Seattle is going to destroy him.

Palmer is fine for next year and as a short term answer in the soon to be three years Keim and Arians have been here but like any other coach/gm regime a long term answer needs to be found at qb.

Another stop gap a la Palmer isn't out of the question but its more likely a good young qb is what Keim and Arians will need to find.

NE drafted their quarterback of the future last year

I can't think of many teams who have had worse QB play throughout recent years (10-15 years) than the Cardinals.

And they did it without having a top pick. Not saying he'll pan out, but it can happen. We should take a chance one of these days. Might pan out, might not. It isn't like our 2nd rounders have all been lighting the league on fire.

I get that were hitching this wagon to Palmer for another year or two, and I'm ok with that.

What I don't get is standing pat on Stanton as your backup.
His accuracy is crap as is his durability.

It's like signing Kolb to backup RG3.

We passed on Jimmy Garoppolo in the second to draft Troy Niklas
