Every year we fail to draft a QB for any of a myriad of reasons.....we have to win now.....or.....we'll get a better QB next year....or.....rookie QB's can't make an impact.....or......we have greater need positions.....or.......we'll get one in the later rounds.....or....the current young QB's we have on the roster will develop.

I say BS to all of the excuses.

I want a YOUNG QB....and I want it now....get it a YOUNG QB. :notworthy

PS....a QB who can CUTler thru the defense will also work. :thud:

All I can say is

excuse me for being derogatory . . . but this is the dumbest post i've read in a long time. who cares about second? no one. no one will remember that. it is meaningless. at best we finish 5 games BELOW .500. we have no respect. finishing up with two worthless (and believe me, the free agents see that also - a decimated philly and resting their starters colts) wins and still 6-10 at best won't attract squat. if it meant finishing 8-8, maybe it would affect the opinions of free agents, but 6-10 is 6-10. finishing second in a horrid division a big deal . . . laughable.

Being picked early doesn't mean success at the NFL level

that's a stupid argument. by that logic we should trade all our high picks for as many 6th and 7th rounders as possible. the higher you pick the better opportunity you have. is it still a crapshoot? of course, but it is a measured crapshoot. you're more likely to find a good player in the first round than the second, the second than the third, etc. etc. and don't compare the first round to the rest of the draft, rather, compare round by round to see the truth of this matter.

Don't you mean 2 games below .500?

I for one would rather win games and attract a bonafide FA than to lose games and get another crapshoot rookie in the top ten.

free agent: "oh HELL yeah i'm signing with the cardinals over the packers! i mean, they went 6-10 last year! they beat the eagles! they beat the colts!"

sorry, don't see it.

I don't really care if we draft 12 or 3rd. The hiogher the pick the higher the price and not all the time the talent. Q ..Second round is a perfect example of knowing talent and picking them up when they fall. Wilson 3rd round..ERic Green..3rd round(kid played real well as a spot starter (and when Rolle went down). Dansby 2nd round. Anyway it's not where you draft it's who!

let's face it, we got somewhat lucky with Q. we can't say our front office knew he'd be this good. if they did they'd have drafted him in the first instead of bryant johnson. the entire draft is a gamble, the higher your selection, the more upside potential.

This is actually kind of sad. It's like watching Tonto fight the stagecoach robbers without the Lone Ranger.

Where, oh where, is cheesebeef?

lol. my LITTLE brother has permanently removed himself from the board. he doesn't have a "typical" job, so he used to find himself paying more attention to the board than motivating to do his writing. so he's self-banned himself. he gets updates from me. but, truth be told, the board's been fairly boring for a long time (no offense to anyone out there). there's no ridiculous represented any longer. no vikesfan, no tango, no (true) controversy surrounding the team. just boring.

Now we draft 10th instead of 6th.......it pays to lose for draft picks.......just ask Tampa Bay.

If they had beaten us last year in the season finale, they probably wouldn't have gotten Carnell Williams.....do you really think the Bucs fans are still upset that they didn't finish the season off with a win last year to help them get closer to a winning record? Heck, we could have drafted the guy ourselves

Great Post!

Winning games that have no significance or meaning (thus no pressure) isn't "winning at all.

Most fans across the country agree with you. ESPN has been talking up the teams that "win by losing."

I am sorry if this is offensive. But that is just plain stupid. Who is to say who we pick at #4 is going to be great?

Who is to say the best player that comes out of next year's draft is not taken at #10 ?

Why would you lose a game on purpose when you are trying to have a winning attitude ?

Why would you lose a game and have all the proven NFL talent on your team and off the team look at you in a worse light just to pick 1 unproven college player?

Why are draft picks looked upon to be these special heros who will lift us to the top ? Andre Wadsworth sure helped, so did Calvin Pace, Bryant Johnson, Thomas Jones, just to name a few. Thank goodness they are still around.......whoops!

Draft picks should be treated for what they are.......unproven NFL Talent.

Stupid.......

HECK WE SHOULD HAVE STARTED THROWING GAMES WEEK 1!!!! We would be a shoe in for the number 1 draft pick. Heck is there anyway to forfiet our games next season so we can be the #1 pick in 2007 ?

Sorry.......just hate that idea of losing on purpose.

Alright here's the plan guys we'll just go 0-16 for the next few years. Its brilliant we can always get the 1st pick in the draft and eventually turn it around.:sarcasm:

In case people haven't noticed we have been stuck in the top 10, hell even the top 10 for just about every year and we have gone to the playoffs a grand total of ONCE. So why do people think things are suddenly going to change if we do exact same damn thing every year?

I'm certainly not trying to defend the front office (because the first round that year was a joke), but since Boldin was projected to go somewhere after the first round, it'd be silly for us to have taken him in the first. We should have been able to get Suggs or Leftwich AND Boldin. So, even if the Cards front office thought Boldin was going to be special, they still drafted him in the right place.

Now, about that trade.... :hulk:

The time for losing passed a couple games ago, either lose all the way or don't bother.

Worrying about 2 or 3 picks difference is stupid. Now if you are talking the year we fumbled the number one pick on the last game...

That year people had a valid case, I still disagree with it but come on, anyone with any sense can see why one game like that, we'll it can haunt you.

Do you mean the year that we picked at #3 and passed on Phillip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger?

I know you disagree. I just like pointing that out to those who don't.
