If you can suggest somebody at the vet minimum, go ahead. :bang:

As for Barbosa, he does have a mid range game but doesn't use it much. The key problem is that he has not quite figured out those situations where he CAN'T get to the basket. If Diaw is too cautious (reads the help defense and assumes that guy will get there in time), Leandro is too optomistic. I think this is something that can only be learned by doing, but I think he'll improve.

Pass. That's what he needs to do when he can't get to the basket.

Who is our shooting guard? Raja Bell? Ew.. We seriously need a great scoring 2 guard to go with Nash and Stoudemire.

I just don't know if we can afford it, or work a trade like that. Barbosa is a nice penetrating guard, but he's not consistant enough against premier defenders (dirty players.. Ahem) and it cost us.

I still say we could have traded Barbosa and Marion plus picks for Kobe, but I don't want to start the trade junk again. Kobe is a 2 guard in our system right?

i kinda stopped reading this thread after that.

Actually, Rip Hamilton would be a pretty darn good 2 guard in our offense, IMO. Ray Allen is my #1 though.

Rumor is pistons are shopping hamilton.

I agree he would be a good two, but at the expense or what? Bell? Hamilton is overpaid imo.

would anyone here make a Bell/Marion for Sheed/Rip deal?

Nash
Rip
Grant Hill(uh??)
Sheed
Amare

Leo
Boris
KT

not sure what that does for us - there's positives in that Rip is a much better offensive player than Raja, but not nearly as good defensively. And with Sheed v. Marion... well, i really don't see much down side there, except our running game suffers quite a bit. However, that being said, there's really very few running ops for Marion in post-season play anyway, so...

uh, who am I kidding. the pistons would NEVER make that deal.

You think our front court is pores now? Ray Allen can't play defense anymore. I love the guys offensive game no doubt. I love the fact he can take over games. I just think losing Raja's toughness and defense for the sake of more offense (which we are already the best in the league at) is a huge gamble.

Everybody keeps saying we need to be tougher and have more D. Ray makes us weaker in that aspect. If we were to do something like that then your basically sticking with the philosophy we can outscore anybody so defense is not a major concern.

Wait.....sort of like now. Never mind. Bring on Ray Allen. :D

Hmm, Marion/Raja for Rip/Sheed? IF the Pistons were open to that deal, I'd have to seriously consider it.

I really like Hamilton, and I think he could guard just about anyone as well as Marion does, except possibly some of the less mobile PFs like Nowitzki. I'd miss Bell, but the Suns would be getting two dynamic players.

I can't imagine Detroit making that deal, though, probably not even with the Atlanta pick included.

What about this guy?

Jacobsen Named German Finals MVP

Former Suns guard Casey Jacobsen was recently named Finals MVP, as his Brose Baskets won the 2007 German Basketball Championship. If your German is up to snuff, click here to check out the Bavarian team’s website.

Wow, way to go Casey.

I actually wanted them to sign him last offseason instead of Pike. Would've been cheaper and he actually contributed while he was here. Mike must not like him though.

This is some of the worst basketball 'analysis' I've seen on these boards. No team can have an All Star at every position, but the Suns are lucky enough to have THREE All Stars starting for them AND an All Defense 1st teamer, find me another team in that lucky situation.

This year is going to come down to mostly internal improvement (guys like Banks, LB, Diaw, Amare), since the management has said after Hill they are probably done.

I like how you can't point out why this is the "worst basketball analysis".

First of all, I never said to trade Raja. Second of all, he's not a scorer. If you can't see this then and how it hurts us agains the Spurs of the world then there's no hope you ever will.

Also, I would never want to pin my hopes on Banks or Diaw. We need a Joe Johnson out there. Nash can't shoot like he used too (or he just doesnt) so we need one more guy.

Why is Ray Allen even being discussed right now? Is this left over from pre-draft talks?

I would agree that Hamilton might be a ball to guard the 1-2 as well or better than Shawn Marion. He might even be able to guard the smaller 3's as well as Shawn Marion. I don't think you could ever have Hamilton guard any of the decent 4's or the bigger, more offense minded 3's though. I wish Shawn Marion could avoid guarding these guys, but at least he's quite a bit heavier and longer than rip Hamilton.

Besides, that's where Wallace comes into play. I think Mike D'Antoni could have a field day with those two guys in his offense, and overall they would be an improvement on the defensive end of the court.

Of course I don't think Detroit would ever make that deal even if it was sweetened with draft picks. Why would they?

Joe
