Very, very, possible in fact most likely pick for us.

Kahlil is really good I just don't know what to make of him in the NFL he's kind of light in the butt and he plays fairly high at times against speed rushers, I'm afraid NFL pass rushers will be ovepower him if he doesn't learn to get lower because NFL speed guys usually have a bullrush too.

He does seem to have really good feet and obviously his brother has been a very good NFL player and he seems to have the same sort of mean streak which you want in an OL.

I just wish he was 20 pounds heavier but of course he has the frame to support that.

I think we'll find out alot about the teams belief in Whiz against Pitt. First we're coming off a bye week so you hope things get fixed. Second it's his old team, if the players buy in they will bust their humps to win this game for their coach, if they don't, it could be ugly.

We might catch a break with Polamalu he has concussion like symptoms but otherwise they appear to have righted their ship.

Isn't Whis like 1-4 coming off byes in his career? I'll look it up in an hour or so, but I'm pretty sure that nothing gets fixed in the bye week with Whis.

You are correct. What really stands out is that the 2009 team went 6-1 following the bye week including 4 road wins. A year later the Cards go 0-7.

But hey, we got rid of all the "me" first players.

Anyone who has followed the Cards since they arrived in the valley knows that they lose many games they should win and win many games they should lose. It's who they are. Don't ask me how, but they will somehow manage to pull off 1 maybe 2 victories in the next 2 games. We've been there, done that, too many times to disagree. It's going to happen again.

I appreciate your hopes but I would not place any bets on it. After watching the Vikings really get spanked this weekend it further shows just how bad we are. The Bears ate them up. Unless this team makes some sort of drastic turnaround I think we should be the underdog in every game left.

What if the Cards ended up with the #1 pick in next year's draft? Would we take Luck? With our contract and what we gave up for Kolb that sure is no given. Would it not be ironic if the Colts ended up with Luck after having perhaps the best QB in the NFL for so many years. If we did draft Luck what would be our plan for Kolb? What kind of season would Kolb have to have in order for us to pass on Luck if he should somehow drop to us? We are a stramge team on draft day and my guess we would draft Luck and then trade him for the best possible picks or players.

It is so sad to be talking about the 2012 draft after only 5 games. It sure gets old even for a 60 + year fan.

I really enjoyed watching the Dallas game this week. Right down to the last drive. Both interesting coaching and good play on offense and defense. When the chips are down it brings out the best in tom Brady. As many people think the prevent defense is greatly overrated. I would like to see some statistics on just what results come from this. If you are doing a good job of holding down a teams offense for almost the entire game and then in the last 3 or four minutes go into the prevent defense does it really make any sense. One might say the same thing about the offense. If you have a 3-7 point lead with 5-6 minutes left do you really want to go into a shell trying to burn up time with a running game when you have got ahead with you passing game for most of the game. That seems the NFL way of doing it.

Sometimes that's a little difficult to do. It can be a real pain to locate the actual thread unless you recall something fairly specific. I think we ought to have a sticky for something like this. A thread where a person could say, I really didn't think we had a chance to enter the Luck sweepstakes - it's starting to look like Cheesebeef was right and I was wrong.

Steve

What I will be closely watching for the next 4-5 weeks is what kind of progress is Kolb making, if any. His future is our future for some years to come it seems. If he goes down the tubes our entire team goes down the tubes. He is a QB to big to fail however we have no bailout plan for him. If he does not cut it we sort of start all over once again. He has the rest of he season to prove he is an NFL QB but if he is not then some heads should roll and some people should be terrible embarrassed. Do you give him two years if he continues to play as he is and we continue to lose?

I said before the season (I'd have to dig up the thread), before Manning had the setback from his neck surgery and was still thought to be on track for the season, that Luck would end up going to the Colts after Manning re-injured his neck in a game and refuse to play there and facilitate a trade to the Broncos (it's the Stanford way, after all). I'm sticking with that prediction (though it looks like Manning won't even see a game).

After having had a neck fusion myself at the C3/C4 and c4/C5 levels using bone from my hip I would say that Manning would be crazy to even think about playing football for at least two years or more. At his age I would retire. It took at least three years for my fusion to become a solid piece of bone. A big hit to the neck would have me terrified of a life long paralysis. He has all the money he will ever need. Is a Hall of Fame QB and many options in life like being a booth announcer, coach or what ever. He is an icon at Tennessee and loves the University of TN. There are many things he could do there. Do not be foolish Peyton. Sometimes you just have to give up what you love most. You can recover 100% from your surgery but not with 300lbs of lineman putting horse neck tackles on you. The defensive players routinely go after your weakness and give no slack no matter what your name or reputation is. You are one of the best QBs I ever watched in my long life.
