Excellent gourmet choices. You do realize that you touched on all the food groups...might want to add some Franks Hot Sauce to get the vegetable count up. A few thoughts. If you are going to stick with Root Beer, IBC is my root beer of choice albeit more expensive. You might consider Barques (sp) diet. I am going to try that dip. What is sueso. Do you mean queso?
Not crazy about a day old Italian sub. How about going out on Sunday and picking up a fresh one. Light on the mortadella please. Will you be makng your own egg mcmuffin? Consider Bays English muffins. I have always been a Thomas EM fan (that's ironic) but bought 2 Bays this week as they were buy one get one free. Quite good. The outside toasts well.

You might want to get aggressive on the brownie. Head to Costco and pick up a the pack box of Ghiradelli's triple chocolate mix. Outstanding. Easy to make. You might eat too many if we take Branch! Also the best without question vanilla ice cream is Kirkland brand from Costco. NO CORN SYRUP (that is a killer kids). Small portions only. The richest vanilla ice cream you can buy. Yes better than B&J or any other brand.

I prefer Grey Goose. Always have a bottle in the freezer. That were vodka belongs. Hey if we get Thomas, buy a 6p of St. Pauli Girl or Anchor...two beers you will really enjoy! Enough already..think I will open the freezer and find a nice Swanson Salsbury Steak to pop in micro! (just kidding)

Awesome feedback (pun intended!), lobo!!!

Yeah, I've been wondering about Grey Goose. Last time I checked it was twice the price of Absolut...a little out of my day old Italian sub budget!!!

Just for you...I will order one fresh on Sunday. Good call.

Bon appetit, my friend!!!

Enjoy it all, pal!!!

Bullhead, You and I agree about Levi Brown...the guy's the best run blocking tackle...by far...in this draft...and he didn't skip the Senior Bowl, nor is he going fishing on the biggest day of his professional career.

Calvin Johnson didnt, Quinn, Russell, Peterson. Does that make them any less of a prospect?

Matt didnt go either, should we have bypassed him for Cutler?

1 game with millions on the line does not make a player. A game that 99% of the scouts dont even stay for.

Sometimes an over 20 year tradition with your father is a way more important adventure to take. In fact I commend him for making his father number 1 in his life. He is a man who has his priorities straight and who once he is apart of a team/family he will have his priorites straight then as well.

I would agree to that except there are pleanty of other weekends to fish on & they do it on DRAFT DAY?

I dont trust anyone who doesnt set their schedule to revolve around NFL activities!

Right on!

Missing the Senior Bowl means diddly-squat for the elite prospects. Seriously, too much is made of the Senior Bowl and combine. They are useful, but what the guys actually did on the field should make up 95% of your evaluation IMO.

2. This weekend is a holiday...treat it as such...in other words, eat and drink (in the safety of your own den) anything you wish, anytime you wish.

3. My tradition: For Saturday...I go to the local sub shop and hour before the draft and buy 2 large subs: a Meatball Parmagiana (for Sat. lunch) and an Italian (which I will heat up for Sunday lunch).

Saturday noshings: Tostitos Low Fat Tortilla Chips with Mitch's famous dip ( 1/3 Salsa Con Sueso, 1/3 Chunky Salsa, 1/3 Non-Fat Sour Cream). Put the salsas in a bowl and microwave it for 1 minute 20 seconds...add the Sour Cream after. Beverage with this: Barq's Root Beer.

My first drink...after the first round is over...which EST is usually around 6 PM. This year it will either be a Heineken Light or an Absolute and soda.

Saturday Dinner: Chinese (delivered)...General Gau's and Beef Lo Mein.

Saturday Dessert: Brownie (heated) with Vanilla Ice Cream

Sunday Brunch: Egg McMuffin w/ sausage, hash browns

Sunday noshings: A bag of Orville Redenbacker's Lite Butter Popcorn..eaten one kernel at a time. Beverage: Ocean Spray Cranapple.

Sunday Dinner: 3 Chili Dogs (only kidding). Roast Chicken w/ Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and plenty of Cranberry sauce.

Sunday Dessert: Cardinal red Jello..w/ Lite Cool Whip.

4. One more thought...for real draft preparation, tune in to CNN and watch the scroller for a half an hour each day this week...this may help to prevent scroller burnout come Sunday afternoon!

Best wishes to all of you for a great draft weekend, Mitch.

GO CARDS GO!!!

Add to this quandary the buildup that the ESPN crew does on each pick, where the panel arrives at a concensus as to the right player the team should pick...and fans are left in a fog of dismay, disbelief and disillusionment when a surprise selection is made...and all of the fans' negative emotions are quickly exacerbated to a painful climax when the fans watch on as the ESPN crew offer its sometimes scathing criticism of the pick...to the point of having to hear Kiper or someone else proclaim: "This is why the (insert team)_____________ are perennial losers" or..."they (insert team) ____________ have no clue as to how the draft works."
The reality is: the pundits aren't always right. In fact they are often wrong. Even several of the most popular pundits had Ryan Leaf rated ahead of Peyton Manning.

I'd love to see a highlight AND lowlight reel from ESPN's draft coverage from the last decade.

1. #21--LB Paul Posluszny, Penn St.
2a. #38--T/G Justin Blalock, Texas
2b. #56--TE Zach Miller, Arizona St.
3a. #69--T James Marten, Boston College
3b. #70--CB Josh Wilson, Maryland
4. #105--DE Jay Moore, Nebraska
5. #142-- LB H.B. Blades, Pittsburgh
7. #215--DE/OLB Brian Robison, Texas

The irony is...I believe that T/G Justin Blalock will be the best offensive linemen in this draft when all is said and done. I also believe that the Cardinals would get the toughest defensive player in the draft in Posluszny...the best all around TE in Miller...the most under-rated T in the draft in Marten...a 4.3 speedster at CB and PR in Wilson...and three solid defensive players in Moore, Blades and Robison.

I'd kill a man for that draft.

I'll even let you choose who, Mitch.

I'm also very excited to see how Blalock will turn out, he's this years McNeil for me, emotionally.

3. I am very disappointed that the Cardinals did not make a deal for WR/PR/KR Dante Hall, especially when all it took was a 5th rounder. To think he's still only 28. The Rams "fleeced" the Chiefs on this one. Dante Hall at half speed is better than 89% of the return men in the NFL. He's got major juke moves and incredible vision...and, oh that burst in the open field.

Didn't even hear he was on the market until the trade was done. It is too bad the Cards didn't jump on that.

:raccoon: Good post Mitch!

Great post Mitch.

Joeshmo - food suggestion for you; velveeta and extra hot Ro Tel (sort of a canned pico with extra yummies) makes an awesome combination, you can find it in almost any grocery store. WARNING - It's so spicy make sure you have lots of toilet paper:D The back of the can says, and I quote "This food item has been found to cause immediate IBS symptoms." It's worth it though...

Extra Hot RoTel?!?! Here in Texas we only use that in the queso we make for the little kids.

:D

Seriously, try the RoTel with Cilantro and Lime.

Yes the draft is subjective. But there aren't that many surprises yr. to yr. in the first round, so there is some kind of consensus on who the top players are. Usually 1st and 2nd round picks get the chance to prove their wares as well.

Of course you have your Colstons that come around every yr. allmost that are the abberations. But they are thrust in by necessity giving them that chance. But kudo's to them that overcome the odds.
