I think a team will pay Floyd like a #1--

SF or SD come to mind as two teams where Floyd is a gigantic upgrade over what they have now.

San Diego has a pretty good WR in Keenan Allen. But yes to San Fran, yes to Minnesota, yes to New England, yes to New Orleans, yes to Baltimore, yes to Detroit. Those are the obvious ones.

Had Cat made that FG, would we even be having a Heros/Goats conversation?

We keep getting preached-to that "the only thing that matters is the "W."

If so, the case could be made that (when you balance out the good and bad) - take away that botched kick and the rest of the team "played well enough to win."

Instead of looking for guys to cut and fire, we'd be better off figuring out what we need to do to beat TB and focus on that.

Good point, Jeff. We all would have breathed a collective sigh of relief, especially after such a poor showing in Carolina and a very disappointing pre-season.

At this point i think many of us are wondering if the Cardinals have lost their desire to do what it takes to win...and whether questionable moves (or lack thereof) in personnel and on the coaching staff (dating back to last year and beyond) and going to cost the team's chances.

Did anyone notice Buc on Sunday night? It says he had 6 tackles from the box score, but I only noticed him when he was being put on skates by the Patriot receivers. Seemed like he had way more missed tackles than usual. Hopefully all that bulking during the offseason didn't translate to lost speed.

We have a heroes and goats conversation every week. Who preaches "the only thing that matters ins the 'W'"? That's not something Keim or Arians says—they usually say something like "It's better to play ugly and win than play ugly and lose."

We talk about matchups for the next game on Thursday or Friday.

i threw SD in there as Allen blew out his ACL -- so a ? going into 2017 for them

while i consider Floyd a not a full #1 -- the history of this league says that almost-top tier players will get paid like a top tier player by a team desperately needing a top tier player at a given position.

Jeff, K9's been doing a Heroes/Goats column since last season.

Yeah Jeff, if you scroll to the bottom of the Heroes/Goats page, you can see K9s columns from last year.

I like the concept of K9's Heros & Goats.

But when it's done within the context of "Since we lost, fire all the goats and anoint all the heros All Pro, it may be a bit of an overreaction.

When you lose the way we did, you walk a tightrope: Losing can become a habit, and we take what happened lightly at our peril. Conversely, pushing the panic button and prematurely talking about firing people can lead to a paranoid and toxic locker room.

Remember that this is basically the same team that was a consistent winner last year until it hit the Carolina speed bump and. Sunday's loss. I'd accordingly be inclined to cut the coaches and FO a bit of slack and focus, instead, on fixing things and beating TB.

We have to have an autopsy after every game, win or lose. Some fans overreact and want people fired or cut even after some wins and always after a loss.

I think we can all agree that our ST's need a bunch of work and that our DC and HC got schooled a bit.

Is there anyone on this thread that is saying this?

Jeff, it's for amusement purposes only, at least that's what it is for me. I enjoy it.

since NO ONE here or in the column is calling for firing the goats and anointing all heroes All-Pro, it looks like the only overreaction here is coming from you.

That was unnecessary, cheese. Jeff Golin is valued poster here. Many of us are very happy to have him back. It's negativity like this that caused him to take a long break from the board. Please man give the guy some respect.

All I said was that he was the one overreacting Mitch. Why is it okay for him call out others as overreacting and initially bash the entire Heroes and Goats column, but it's somehow disrespectful for me to use the exact same term he did when he's projecting unfounded arguments onto others?

cheese, I don't think he was trying to trash the column---he didn't understand K9's satiric and amusing premise (just as Yeahbut acknowledged). Yes, in return Jeff's reaction was exaggerated, for sure. I just want to make sure we keep him on board this time. No offense to you, I promise you.

I for one like having Jeff on the board contributing. I just don't think he gets the gist of k9 Heroes & Goats column. Which I thoroughly enjoy each week btw.

Goats are awesome, though. It should be "Heroes and Norwoods" or something.

K9 and Cheesey - I just rambled thru all the posts on this thread and only came up with one "Fire the Goats" comment (& that one was more inferred than it was literal).

So you guys were right, I was wrong and I apologize.

So far as not expressing criticism because you'd offend my tender ego - that problem is my problem; not yours, so give it your best shot if you think I'm out of line. (Note - that doesn't mean I give up the right to disappear if I feel participating in this forum has become a drag; but that problem's on me/not you).

(Side Notes - (1) I thought my second comment stating that I "liked K9's concept of Heros and Goats" would have cut me some slack. (2) The one "fire the coach" inference came from a guy I respect a lot. He seemed critical of the coaching staff for lack of motivation, and I made the giant leap of assuming that meant he'd want to fire those guys).

I didn't mean any offense by it Jeff, nor hold any animus towards you.
