Think a Hero should also be Justin Bechtel. Return an INT for a TD also down a punt inside the one which led to the safety.

Veldeer was bothered by crowd noise, not the defensive front of SF.

I thought Cooper and Deone played great.

Only goat in this game was Butler with the bad punt which set up the score. Electing any more goats is just doing it for the sake of thinking one has some grand critical mind... scoreboard tells you how many goats we had out in the pasture today and I did not see any :)

Even Butler nailed some punts on the goal line. I know Bethel gets alot of credit for that safety, but Butler punted with precision there.

FYI for rushing YPC, we had CJ - 22-110 (5.0 ypc), DJ - 7-25 (3.57 ypc), Taylor 4-6 (1.5 ypc), Palmer - 1-1 and Stanton 3- -3 (kneeling down).

If you take out the QBs, we averaged 4.27 ypc. If you even factor in Palmer's yard, we were still at 4.17 ypc. Stanton's -3 yards were kneel downs, which I will take every single week.

Rushing attack was pretty good.

There were a couple of runs by Hyde where Deone went for the big hit and allowed extra yards so I do agree with K9 on that. On Cooper, many of the big inside runs he had big blocks on, is he consistent yet no, but he is a big reason we're able to run inside more IMO.

Kurt Warner should be the hero. Him teaching Kap this offseason was brilliant. "Kap, just lob it out there to a guy in red"

The talk on Kaep now is that they're starting to think he's just one of those uncoachable players. That is you show him the correct footwork over and over but in the game he throws off the backfoot.

What was amazing is he had a long string of passes without an INT coming in, and then threw 4. We really got into his head, he had no idea what we were doing on defense.

To me it looked like it was the outside rush just contains so he has to stay in the pocket or step up. Then the secondary takes away the middle of the field and forces him to throw to the outside where he struggles because of bad footwork. Great arm but even he can't make those long throws off balance and get enough on it.

I'll go back and watch the play-by-play again. I didn't start keying on Cooper until the game was out of hand and I was looking for something to watch. Cooper did not look awesome getting pushed directly into Palmer by Arik Armstead of a strip sack.

I won't do a play-by-play; maybe I'll grade him out. There's a different play that I want to watch for my Coaches' Tape Review on Wednesday.

I know you do a 3 and 3 format, but selecting 3 goats had to be a bit more challenging this week. Didn't have a great view of the TV in the Seattle bar, but I guess I would nominate whoever lost contain on their only TD run.

Yeah I started watching Cooper a few plays late in the game and on one play I saw him dive at a defensive lineman and completely miss the block. Other than that I thought he looked OK.

I think it was the first TD run by CJ where Cooper was one of 2 guys who just blew their man backwards giving CJ a hole to run through.

he's not consistent but he gets some blocks in every game that just open gaping holes.

With Armstead I'm not 100% sure but I think the game was 28-0 before he did anything. He's a physically impressive guy, was never as good as projected in college. He's similar to Calais in that respect underachieved in college but has become a great pro. The difference is Armstead is a workout warrior, his dad is a trainer in Sacramento. So he's not one of those guys who will get exposure to NFL training and become a better player, he's already got it. What he needs I guess is coaching that he apparently didn't get in HS or college but might get in the NFL. So far he's looked better than I expected, but again I don't think he made any impact at all until they were down 28 points.

I think that was Alex Okafor who crashed down on a zone read--Minter was ostensibly the spy or outside contain on that play and couldn't catch up to Minter.

I think that the "Palmer's getting hit too much" stuff is a little overblown. At one point he had 3 hits on 18 dropbacks, which isn't terrible. In this deep-passing offense, Palmer's going to be exposed to some hits while he waits for guys to get open.

The Cards' offense calls three plays in the huddle, and Palmer decides on which one to run when he's at the LOS. I imagine that the San Francisco defense crashing the LOS caused Palmer to select the deep passing plays, which exposed him to more hits.

Hard to find Goats in a game like yesterday... However, I agree that Veldheer could be slipped into this category, as can Floyd. But that's it.

Actually Floyd's PI saved a pick. Still like the guy and believe he will be fine. A shame a hold was called on his great catch. He also blocked well and stayed with it from what I could see.

I guess you could throw Butler in there as a goat for that weak punt that had little hang time.

Or maybe Darren Fells for dropping passes that hit him in the hands.

Palmer was only sacked once. Massie was slow to get off the line & his man went past him completely unblocked. Palmer saw him coming around the outside so he stepped up into the pocket & right into Veldheer's man. Jared's penalties weren't great, but having to go to a silent snap count because of crowd noise was a contributing factor.

Palmer was almost sacked again, but he actually gained positive yards running up through the pocket before being tackled & stripped of the ball. Luckily he was able to recover it before multiple 49ers piled on top of him. It's hard to maintain your block on anyone when the QB is scrambling & runs past you (without holding & drawing a penalty).

My Goats would be:
Butler - another weak punt that lead to their only TD... the guy can't punt decently when we're behind the 50 yard line & you never see him boom one.
Containing Kaepernick - Nit-Picking here, but he averaged 6.6 yards per carry on scrambles when we lost contain. (Multiple guys responsible)
Stephan Taylor - kind of a reach, but only 1.5 ypc on 4 carries... pretty pathetic

John Brown for dropping TD passes that are in his hands, while the fantasy owner who starts him has to watch it over, and over, and over again.

BA said that Massie was having problems hearing the snap count. They eventually switched to a silent count. Too many damn 9er fans down by the southeast corner in the lower sections.

Did Cooper cut in front of you in the Target check out line last year?

You're literally the only person who's admonishing Cooper. He played excellent and I'd consider him a hero. If you watch a lineman's entire game, even a pro bowl caliber lineman, you'll see him get turned around once or twice in a game. It's what happens when you play 55-75 snaps in a game.

As someone who freely admits that our fan attendance is overall embarrassing, this still made my blood boil. Hearing that we had to go to a silent snap count at home is ridiculous.
