Other than your miss on the INT that was targeted at Gresham and not Brown, I can't argue anything here...
The lack of even a collegiate level pass rush is simply stunning and will ensure the demise of this team whenever we face a top 10 QB... or, a QB who has never previously taken a NFL snap! :bang:

I'll admit that I'm a Michael Floyd apologist. I think that tapping those toes down on that play is pretty difficult. Yes, top NFL WRs made that play — Fitz, Bryant, etc. — but Michael Floyd isn't a top NFL WRs. He's a perfectly adequate starting WR.

Fun fact: Michael Floyd is only 4 months older than John Brown.

Great write up K9, loved the line about the Patriots.

Adequate starting WR's IMO get both feet down in bounds on that play. They also know how to avoid the PI call he was called for. I like MF a bunch but believe he is underachieving at this point and has potential to be a top NFL WR.

Hey Mike, get that other foot down even if it means you will hit the ground and get your jersey dirty.

I'm still so irritated with yesterdays game that my Goats would be the Players, the coaches and yes the Refs.

It bugs me because it just reinforces the opinion I've had of Floyd since we drafted him. Talented player who doesn't do all the little things to be a great player. it bugs me that he's a terrific blocker, which is in large part effort, but he so consistently does things like drop passes, round off routes etc.

His rookie year he was lining up wrong the whole year, he's gotten better but he just seems like a guy who could be so much better if he'd just take it seriously. But maybe he actually does and it just doesn't translate to the field.

Floyd blows... He disappears games at a time, runs sloppy routes and is always late on his breaks. Screw him.

Nice write up.
My only beef is calling Denver legitimate. They might be the worst undefeated team I've seen in a while - ok, 2nd to KC 2 years ago.

I'd move Floyd to the goat list. Too inconsistent in the game and his career. Can't imagine a scenario where we keep him after his contract is up. Someone will largely over pay him. I hope it isn't us.

Agreed. Could be the next Fitz but seems to be just another guy.

I'm hoping he gets his stinking mind right and does re-sign with us.

I disagree that it is only the top receivers that make that catch. There are countless receivers in this league that could have gotten both feet in on that play. He has to know that he can't actually step forward with his left foot on that play and drag it behind you. It is actually a pretty common play in the league at least from what I have seen.

Cris Carter said that every WR he knows in the NFL spends countless hours practicing that foot drag so it always amazes him when someone blows it like that.

Exactly and it isn't like it takes extreme athleticism to pull it off, but just an awareness of where you are and what you need to do based on where you are.

It's not just the foot drag for Floyd. As much as we may not have liked the offensive PI call against him that negated a TD, he has a history of offensive PI calls.

I'd rather give his snaps to Jaron Brown to see if he can continue to develop.

The biggest GOAT this season has to be the pass rush. Guys like Foles & Landry had field days because ARZ couldn't get to them. Someone on this board already said it but you won't get far without a consistent pass rush. So I guess Bettcher would be accountable but he is just working with what he's got which isn't much.

The offense as a whole is an enigma. They dominate weaker defenses but fold against stout defenses. Palmer I feel is more to blame than receivers because he's made some poor decisions and throws but part of that is because he is getting increased pressure from defenses.

Fold? I hardly think getting 450 against a very good Lambs defense & 470 against a solid Stealers defense is average or poor.

Blame execution, penalties & bad refs for not having a better record.

a solid Steelers defense...that was missing two of it's starting LBers and half of it's secondary and isn't all that solid to begin with? And scoring 13 points? That's folding.

Niklas not only made a catch, he did so while being completely interfered with the guy was draped all over him. The look on his face was funny, I don't know if he was thinking "hey I caught one" or "how is that not PI?"

I was happy to see Niklas get some playing time and make a good catch. I think we're going to need him at some point. Gresham already showed he can't be relied on. Two huge misses I can think of that cost us. The one yesterday resulted in a pick. You can't let the ball bounce off your chest like that. TE's are supposed to have reliable hands. Why have him out there if you can't throw it to him when the defense calls for it. With Fells injured, this could be Troy's time to step up and be a pro.

Still one of the better defenses in the league as is.

Uh... What's laugh out loud funny about my statement that the Steelers were missing huge chunks of a mediocre defense?

And yeah Buck, just because I'm not crying like a baby about things out of our control (refs) and point out the reasons that were WITHIN our control that we failed to do which led to the loss means I crave the ugliness of the past. Get a grip dude.

It's ranked 21st in yards and was missing four starters. Not sure how any of that means they're one of "the better defenses in the league".
5th in points per game allowed, unless of course that somehow doesn't matter.

Sure it does... But so do yards and so does having 4 starters out, doesn't it?
I don't think yards are all that important at all. Bottom line is they don't allow those yards to turn into points and that is exactly what worked for them yesterday. They allowed us to move up and down the field, but tightened things up when we started getting around the red-zone.

And you're just gonna keep ignoring that they were missing four starters also or go you think that's not that important either?
