This is something that hits me in a very personal place. I have practiced yoga for 4+ years and was by far the best thing I have ever done for my body.

Throw out the spiritual, political, and stereotypical views of yoga, and just look at it for the physical benefits and it is rejuvenate exercise. Meaning it repairs your body.

You become stronger in a way that is hard to explain, but your strength increases. It allows you to breath better, and be more flexible.

I would recommend it to just about everyone, and would go as far as to say it is a requirement for anyone with a chronic physical ailment.

After rugby my left shoulder was shot, couldn't lift it above my head, but post yoga I have full motion and strength.

Yes, it was weird being a 295lbs ex-rugby player in a yoga studio looking like a dancing bear, but now it feels weird not to be practicing when I can.......not to mention I am now 230lbs and yoga has been a HUGE help in that weight loss as well.

PS - Advice: 1. Go to a knowledgeable and experienced yoga studio. 2. NEVER try to push your limits in yoga, you do what you can and improvement is a process. It is not a competition.

I think yoga is awesome for flexibility and core strength

Back in the Denny Green era, I played golf with the Cards strength coach at some charity event

I mentioned yoga to him as something I thought would benefit players. He looked at me like I had a third eye or something. Pretty old school strength coach.

I'm not even flexible enough to start BEGINNER'S yoga. With my ailments, many of those positions aren't even possible.
me too.
YOGA would turn in to "Yo God"...because I would need divine help to get my big ass back on my feet

Years ago I did P90X - 90 days in a row of 1 hour intense exercise - the most difficult hour of work each week? Yoga. I learned to appreciate its benefits.

On another note, I'm wondering if David works with Ryan Flaherty at all? According to Ryan's bio one of his clients are the AZ Cardinals. In the article David mentions his poor hip flexibility and stiff hamstrings - this podcast gets in to detail regarding these issues and preventive injury measures.

Of particular interest is the discussion regarding Russell Wilson and his ability to previously avoid a major ACL injury. http://tim.blog/2017/05/07/ryan-flaherty/

LOL. Nope.

I wear a T-shirt, and regular shorts........I do where compression shorts underneath so nothing "sneaks out".

Contrary to popular belief you do not need a skin tight getup or to be half naked to do yoga.

And once the class starts, you are not looking at anyone else because you are just trying to get through it. LOL

That is where I started. :D

But not knowing what ails you, nothing but respect, you know your bodies better than anyone.

Just wanted to take the opportunity to say, that its not mandatory to do everything, there are some poses that I just cannot do, don't care how long I practice, it ain't gonna happen. My shoulders are soooooo much better than they were, but they still have limitations. You just do what you can.

If you cannot, I just do what my instructor tell me to do, when we hit a pose I cannot do and "at least think about doing it". LOL!
